Author Internet Sharing Question

I'm sure this is a popular question right after Christmas.

Purchased a LinkSys wireless adapter (WGA11B) and wireless router (BEFW11S4)
so that the boy could play Halo2 on live, and we could share the internet
connection, etc.

When he's online live, I can't access the internet. The connection icon says
we're connected, but everything comes to a standstill. I was hoping that
while he was occupied with the game, I could using the internet!

We have cable modem (Bresnan Online). Is there something I'm missing, in so
far as a setting that would allow us to share the bandwidth at the same
time?

Thanks for any help.

This should not be an issue; at least you should not suffer a complete
lockout - maybe a little lag on the computer. Both computers are
connected to the router, either wired or wireless? Check the router
DHCP client table and see if the Xbox and your computer are listed. You
are using DHCP on both the game adapter and the computer? Note that you
will see two entries for the Xbox - one for the game adapter and one for
the Xbox itself plus one entry for the computer. Neither the Xbox or
the game adapter will have a name. If you have not done so, shut down
the modem, router, and computers. Bring up the modem, and when the
lights stabilize, start the router, then bring up the computer and Xbox.
See if this helps.
