Xbox Live Help Required

| First, I'd like to apologise for the very long post. I have tried to
provide as much information as possible to speed things up.
I have just signed up for the 2 month free subscription to Xbox Live.
After much messing about I can finally connect to xbox live, however
my problem is staying connected. I drop out in about 1 of every 2
games I play.
When I get disconnected and I try to search for a new game it gives me
a list of the new games without any problems, if I select one I can
probably play 1 game before being disconnected again.
I have no problems using my internet connection on my PC. And I have
tried turning my PC off to eliminate any conflicts.
My set-up is as follows:-
Dlink DSL-300T Modem 0 PPPoa Connection with GDMT modulation (IP
192.168.1.1)
Dlink DI-624 Wireless Router (Latest firmware 2.42) (IP 192.168.0.1)
Xbox (IP 192.168.0.102)
BT Yahoo 1mb broadband
First off my Xbox is currently wired (cable is about 25 foot) to my
router (ie I am not using WiFi at the moment). I have turned off the
SuperG mode of the router.
The live diagnostics on my xbox varies between: 'MT 1, IC 1, NT 3'
and 'MT 1, IC 1, NT 1' depending on which router settings I have.
I have confirmed the MTU setting on my router is set above 1365 (it is
on the default of 1500).
I have 'opened' the ports (88, 3074 UDP & 3074 TCP) in both the
'Virtual Server' and 'Special Applications' section of my router. I
have put my Xbox in the DMZ. I have tried disabling the routers
"Gaming Mode" and "UPNP" settings - all to no avail. I have tried
multi combinations of the above.
The router logs show no error message and no packets are being lost.
Though I can see that there is a DHCP request and success message
every 30 seconds.
The Modem Ethernet logs show that 126386604 bytes have been
transmitted and there are 3638989 Error frames - could this be the
problem? If so what does it mean?
The Modem ADSL logs show no errors.
My Xbox is always assigned the same IP address using the Static DHCP
functionality of my router.
I have tried calling Xbox support, and while they are very polite and
friendly they have not been able to help with my problem even though
the router is on the US compatibility list.
Does anyone out there have any ideas I can try?
If you have any questions or clarification please let me know.
Many thanks in advance for your help.
Best regards,
Jason.

| Welcome to dlink hell. The DI624 has a known DHCP/disconnect bug.
Go over to broadbandreports.com and check out the dlink forum. Someone there
can point you in the right direction
I had a DI-624 & also had trouble getting xbox live to work smoothly. I
ended up getting a different router after reading about all the problems
with the di624 on that forum.
btw, dlink has released a new beta firmware for the di624c, you might want
to try that.
