Thanks...yes I saw your post after I posted......I upgraded both the router
and the MN-740... after the router "upgrade" I experienced severe signal
loss...after checking around, it appears that this a common response for
this model.
I invested in the Linksys Wireless G Range Expander (WRE54G), though
somewhat pricey, I works like a charm. I have strong signal in reaches of
the house I did not have even before I upgraded. This also has led me to
some conclusions about the MN-740.
First, I've actually placed the MN-740 within 3 feet of the range extender
and I receive intermittent signal strength..within 30 seconds I received a
excellent, very low, very good and no signal. I used a laptop in the same
area and the signal is consistently excellent. I have reset the MN-740 and
the Dashboard ad nausea with the same results....no IP assignment. I'm sure
all of the settings are correct. I believe the device is defective. I will
return it this weekend and probably purchase the Linksys game adapter. It
has been my experience within the last year with a wireless network that
mixing products do not seem to work. I have two laptops that came with
integrated wireless and I could not get either to work, but, when I plug in
a linksys adapter they work immediately and reliably.
Thanks for your input
