Modded xbox & Live Connection Problems

| Ok,
See the "linksys wrt54gs & mn-740 adapter Can't connect" topic.
I'm still not able to connect after trying numerous scemes.
Question: Assuming one has a modded console with no switch, is it likely
that MS "bans" the unit on the very first attempt to connect to xbl even
without even getting as far as setting up an acoount.
Trying to determine if one should get a new xb console or a new xbl
compatible router.

| Is more then likely your Wireless setup! Try connecting directly and see
if it's working correctly. Of course after your connected and on LIVE then
your console will get banned! So you might as well buy another Xbox anyway
and use that for LIVE.

| Hey JB,
Well I tried that. Cabled directly from the cable modem to the console.
Couldn't get past "Cables OK" on Connect Status screen.
Console couldn't find the IP addresses nor the DNS servers.
Called my cable ISP and they said I should set all xb console config
settings to automatic.
Tried that but the unit still couldn't find IP addresses nor the DNS
servers.
Any suggestions?

hopefully you reset the modem also by unplugging it from the power outlet
for about 10 seconds.
You need to reset the modem anytime you switch the device thats connected to
it

was off for 10 minutes easy.

| Strange. I'm using a Netgear Router myself in a wired setup. I just
plugged my Xbox in one of the open ports and everything works fine.

can you get your hands on another xbox? I think you don't need an account
for it, it will at least check your cable setup and that will tell you if
its your cable setup or xbox
