Hearing disgruntled as well as very positive messages about this.

Got Halo:CE (or, the frist one, if thats not the right jargon) way back when
I bought the X box and loved it. I've of course been warned off buying Halo2
by family members keen to buy it as a christmas gift. So, eager
anticipation...

So, any comments on what to expect when the disc goes in the machine on
25th?

Jsut interested in opinions - not tyring to re-start a rant / troll or
anything

cheers

Excellent game. Many more things to do. You'll enjoy it.

Halo 2, in my opinion, completely lives up to the standards set by the first
game, and even surpasses them in many areas. Many people seem to have been
disappointed, though, so you'll see for yourself.

Much better graphics, but too much for the Xbox, IMO, so there's map
"popping" in cut scenes that is so obvious and annoying, I'm surprised it
made it into the game like that...kinda like that ridiculous tearing that
Splinter Cell had.
Better looking levels, bigger scope
MUCH better cut scenes that give it an epic, movie feel, in spite of the
godawful popping
Honestly, I think the AI is worse in H2, as I've been able to catch Elites
when they can't see me, and I can just shoot and shoot and shoot without
them moving at all.
Also suffers from "wave syndrome." By that I mean that it overcompensates
for certain things being easy by throwing a ton of enemies at you, even to
the point of it not being realistic (for instance, I'm at a checkpoint in a
passageway that grunts come out of ("Be careful! The captain has a brute
shot!"), and a grunt literally appears behind me (spawned) where there is no
door or other means of entry. It's like Bungie got feedback during testing
that it was too easy, and this was their adjustment (well, that and some
very asymmetrical weapon damage, like getting popped with a single shot from
a shotgun at ~25 feet or walking into Sniperville with an unknown (estimated
to be a "shitload") number (5-infinite?) of 1-shot tickets to respawning

There were plenty of spawn glitches like that in Halo 1 as well. That's
certainly not a step down from the first game.
