What ever defeated the Forerunner, it was not the Flood. In Halo 2 at
the end when you are the Master Chief for the last time, the Prophet of
Truth was finishing a speech. In that speech, he said in one part, "The
Parasite did not defete the Forerunner". So that's how I know that.
