| There are Forerunner relics left over! The Halos, first of all, and
everything on them, as well as a number of artifacts on other planets found
in the books, like the radioactive Forerunner relic they found on Reach in
First Strike. And what about Stonehenge? The pyramids? There's plenty of
unexplained stuff lying around on Earth that could've been relics of the
Forerunner.
Also, just because you don't believe in evolution doesn't mean Bungie
doesn't, so you may have to shift your view of reality to appreciate the
games. We could've evolved long after the rings were activated (Earth is six
billion years old in most people's opinions, and we're maybe one million
max), and the rings don't destroy physical objects, they just kill life.
