Halo 1 for Pc direct 3d issues

| Well im trying to get my friend to download halo trial so
he did and now he can install but cant play because it
says there was a problem with direct 3d. So if you could
email me any solutions or suggestions!

| He should check his graphics card to see if it supports the minimum
requirements for Halo PC. Perhaps a simple drive update will fix the
situation.

My friend has a Radeon 9800 Pro and it often says it can't inititae
direct3D - he just launches it again, and it works (most times). Not sure if
he's all patched up though.
I presume you've patched it? (If the demo is patchable) You might even want
to see what the fixes were for the full version... perhaps some kind of
direct3D problem was altered?

| that's excatly what i did. i downloaded the trial and when installing got an
error about my video-card. for this christmas i got halo 1. and i got the
same error. it gave me a link to microsoft and was guided through to update
the card. i got the same error but i now can play in safe-mode.

| Play in safe mode is okay because the real-time drivers for the card aren't
being used. I would suggest you follow the information to troubleshoot
video-related issues: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/829478 Pay special
attention to the area about VIA-base motherboards, along with section near
the bottom regarding unsupported video cards.
