Oops! Forgot that the Grunts call Elites "Elites." My mistake.
When do Grunts say, "Not so tough, are ya?" I don't think I've ever heard
that line.

Well, I think some lines in the Xbox version aren't in the PC version.
Did you ever hear "Can't... breathe... with... thing... ... on... back"?
Or how about : "Why are we so darn cute?"

Yes, good point. I just thought it was kinda odd.

How can someone not be looking forward to H2's Live? :o
That's like not looking forward to Christmas when you know your parents got
you H2! LOL
On Xbox Live, you can turn off voices of people you don't like, if you
didn't know. I think that's probably going to be my most used feature in
Halo 2...just kidding

I think, therefore I make sure everyone hears about it.

Maybe it's just the console version; not sure now. They're the last words
you hear as they discuss your now dead corpse, along with the oldies but
goodies: "I get his gun!" "Can I have his helmet?" Those little voices
really make the game. :-)

I've heard one do it when he killed me with a Fuel Rod Gun.

I've heard those on PC. Keep playing; they're in there somewhere.

Oh, that's why. I'm not usually killed by Grunts (unless they nail me with a
grenade). It's always Elites, Jackals, etc.

I've heard the first, or something like it, and I've definitely heard one
say "Darn Cute," so I assumed when I saw your message that that had been the
whole thing. But I dunno...

That's another reason why I haven't heard them; I only own the Xbox version.

Whoops. Oh, well. I meant it as a joke; I didn't think it was an actually
line =P
I don't hang around Grunts that much, so maybe I should before I start
making an idiot of myself on this newsgroup.

I always thought the "Cyborg" line was aimed at the Master Chief. I'll
never forget the first time I heard that line. It cracked me up. It
was funnier than the first time I heard one of the Marines yelling
"Eat this!!" (another Aliens reference in the game)

There are tons of Alien rip-offs in Halo, like the motion tracker before the
appearance of the Flood, several of the marines' lines, most of the human
weapons, etc.

I used to go to the movies with a few Grunts, but they complaning during
Alien vs Predator. That is wasn't realistic... It was really getting
annoying, so I don't hang around with them anymore. I now only hang around
with Hunters. They are much more silent and they help very good, when I am
in a fight. ;-)

Hunters are too silent for me. I prefer Elites. They're funny because they
talk backwards. ;-P

Of course, "Aliens" itself ripped off a lot of the "Starship Troopers"
ideas. And Cameron had earlier ripped off a lot of stuff from "Second
Variety" for "The Terminator." So I guess he deserves it.

Didn't Aliens come out in 1986 and Starship Troopers come out in 1997?

I think the Starship Troopers book that inspired the Starship Troopers movie
was written in the 60's by Robert A. Heinlein.

The Heinlein novel was, I think, from the 60's, although xenophobia itself
dates back a few more millenia. The newer fears of the enemy-within and
hubris date back to the old testament.

Well, the most recent Alien movie, AVP, came out this year. But yes, the
original was '86.

This string is now approaching the presidential debate thing on farthest
subject from the topic of the newsgroup. Though the Bush thread was mainly
my fault, so I shouldn't be complaining... lol

Yeah and Alien: Ressurection came out in '97 but neither were directed by
Cameron. Moot point anyway since I have already been set straight on the
fact that the OP was reffering to the book not the movie

No, I'm talking about "Starship Troopers" the book, which came out in
1959. It's where the colonial marines, "bug hunts", and other elements
came from.

What? The Grunts say all that to Master Chief - YOU - not their fellow
comrades lol They are on the same side, remember? Why would a Grunt mock a
Sword Elite by saying "Not so tough now, are ya!" to him? Also, Grunts
usually say things like that if they are beginning to have the upper hand in
a battle with you. Makes sense? They mock YOU, not their own comrades. MC
is a cyborg - so when you blast a bunch of Covenant, sometimes the Grunts,
while retreating, will shout "Bad!Bad Cyborg!", see?, Elites are just
aliens, not cyborgs..

I think you misunderstood him. He was saying the same thing. "The
golden one" meaning the master chief, not a golden elite.
