| I purchased Halo 2 the day it came out. I'm about halfway through level
2--I've gone through the tunnel and have come out at a circular area
where an enemy sniper can easily be bashed. After getting through this
area, I can go to another area with two ghosts and a Wraith and...
The game freezes. Every time. It doesn't matter if I'm in a Warthog, on
foot, in a ghost, firing, not firing, if the controller is vibrating or
not. Sometimes I can go 5 seconds, sometimes 15, but it alwaysa happens
in this area, every time.
I've followed the instructions at

and even wound up swapping the game for another copy. Still, the same
thing happens.
I have not modded or attempted to mod my Xbox. I have a Halo Limited
Edition XBox, so the hardware is newer. I've never had another Xbox
game freeze on me.
Does anyone else out there feel my pain? I can play XBox Live fine, but
I cannot play through the single-player game. I did some google
searching and could only find sporradic reports of the game freezing
for other people, but none seem as consistant as my problem:

Does anyone have any ideas of anything else I can do to try to resolve

| All I can say is defective copy. Buy yourself a new one.

| It could be a hardware issue also. Take the disc to a friend's Xbox and see
if it happens there. If not I would suspect the hardware and send the Xbox
for repair or take it for an exchange if that is still possible. I reallly
don't think it is the disc if this is your second one. Another thing to look
at is your network connections. Is the Xbox connected through a router to
your broadband? How many other devices are using the network along with the
Xbox? I think there are some issues with the way Halo 2 sends it's data
packets. You have a newer model and it seems to be only affecting the older
machines but it is worth a look.
