Author Halo 2 finished in 5.5 hours, 2nd hardness level

My 14 year old son managed to finish Halo 2 in only 5.5 hours on the 2nd
hardness level out of 4.

Is it really meant to be so damn easy?

I'm quite p*ssed of if that is all the game play in it on the normal level.

He is now going back to play again at the 3rd level.

Comments welcomed.

Peeved father.

Have you tried it yourself? 8-)

Halo 2 is pretty easy on Normal if you're an experienced gamer, but on
Legendary it's honestly the hardest game I've ever played. Heroic is where
the fun is for the Halo 2 newbie who's a pro at the first game.

My kids (11 and 12) finished it in 6 hours. They were chapped when the
credits started to roll. Very little earth time. Anticlimactic ending.

In my day, each level of a game got harder. Not so with H2.

Call me crazy, but I suspect that your son fibbed a little on how much
time he put into finishing the game at that difficulty.

For a good player of this type of game, I'd guesstimate 10 hours on
Normal, and a lot more on Heroic (the difficulty you are referring
to).

I doubt that the greatest Halo player in the world could finish it on
Heroic in 5.5 hours.

Yeah, it didn't take me 5 or 6 hours, more like 12 or so, but I was somewhat
disappointed. It seemed less involved than the 1st one, and I was a little
disappointed. I had to check these message boards to make sure my game
wasn't bad and didn't end prematurely at the end, since it leaves ya
hangin'. Now I do admit I haven't played it at the harder levels, which
will surely not be easy for me, but I thought it was a little "short"
especially for the delayed release, etc.
Sorry that you are peeved. I definitely understand. Maybe he will be
challenged at the harder levels, or can get in and play with his buds.

If you want the game to be harder, bump up the difficulty. That's what
Legendary is for.

Were your kids playing on co-op mode, on Easy?

I have completed Halo 1 about 10 times, on all difficulty levels; I am
the best player in our local group in LAN games; I do pretty well in
online play. It took me (trying to think back and calculate) about 12
hours on Normal. However, I watched all of the cutscenes, and I wasn't
particularly rushing.

Dude, we were talking about Halo 2, not Halo 1.

And also, dude, we are talking about doing it on Heroic.

I don't think it's possible, and if it was possible, it would take a)
the greatest Halo player on Earth, b) someone who was slamming through
it as rapidly as possible in a deliberate effort to set a speed
record.

I think it's definitely possible. I've done it on Normal in 4 hours, so
Heroic in 5 and a half doesn't sound too far out. I mean, Halo:CE on Easy
only takes me like two hours. If you go for speed, it makes a huge
difference.

In your day? lol.. what are we talking about here? Before you had kids?
That would be what? 13 years or more ago? Lemme see... what games would
those be around 1991, 1990 .. or even the late 80s. Super Mario?

Not to make fun of you really (since I am probably older than you - I
bought a Mattel Intelevision when they first came out) but Halo 1 and 2
are a lot more sophisticated then those games that built upon increasing
difficulty with each level (which usually meant 6 toadstools chasing you
instead of the usual 2). The high level of game play that Halo provides
make the different challenges or goals for each level interesting and a
lot of fun. And if the kids need more difficulty, turn the knob to
Legendary.
