Is anyone else getting the error message "You have failed to load the map"
when trying to play Halo2 online? How do you fix this? It is making me
wonder why I bought the game in the first place. Between waiting for matches
and failing to load maps the game is pretty much unusable.

Thanks

I'm having that problem too, but I'm figuring it's the disk drive. I have
sent my Xbox in for repairs as it's under warranty. How old is your Xbox? I
find it only happens if you're playing an online game and you try to have
another game on a different map. If you go for another game on the same map,
it doesn't happen. If you find anything else out, please let me know.

According to the Microsoft tech I spoke to the problem is not all that
uncommon. They do not know why it is happening but are working with Bungie
to resolve the issue. They've been completely blindsided by this. He thinks
it may involve a software patch. I have noticed, however, if I give the Xbox
a direct connection to the cable modem the problem is much less frequent. If
the Xbox is connected to the network through a router then it is nearly
impossible to play the game. My personal opinion is that it is a problem
with the way Halo 2 is sending it's data packets. Just a guess though. Keep
me posted if you find out anything.

Apparently Bungie is working on the loading times with multiplayer. If you
watch the move content on Bungie.NET you will see that one of the best
thigns they did was get you in the game and connected in less than 5
seconds. This obviously is taking a LOT longer, and I can't believe that
Bungie didn't notice that this would be an issue upon launch. However, I
have faith in them to fix the problem -- If you recall - Ghost Recon had
connection problems as well until UbiSoft issued a patch.

I have to say that your faith in Bungie (and dare I say it? Microsoft) are
well placed. The problem is becoming less and less prevelant as time passes.
From my point of view I am glad they jumped on this one as quickly as they
did. I think it happened only twice yesterday and so far not at all today.
It is a very good game when it is working.
