Author Halo 2/Brute Force ties?

There are no storyline ties between these games. But, does anyone else
think there are a lot of gameplay ties?

MINOR SPOILERS FOLLOW.

* The plasma grenades now seem to work like shock grenades from Brute
Ford.

* The bad guys include - you guessed it - Brutes! There is no alien by
the name Brute, in Brute Force. However, there is a big alien that can
go into berserk mode, charging you on all fours, kind of like the
Brutes.

* Many of the maps and scenery look like Brute Force maps and scenery
- including how flames work. Some of the characters look similar to
Brute Force characters, too, including all women, and the Brutes.
(Women all look like the run and work out - no more waifs like H1
Cortana.)

* The weapons, generally, feel more Brute Force-like, particularly the
Covenant Carbine and the Brute Shock.

Of course, there are major differences. The games aren't set in the
same universe; Brute Force has a third-person viewpoint while H2 is
first-person; you can't choose different characters with different
abilities; and the storylines are vastly different in quality and
detail. Nobody buys Brute Force books.

I have a hunch that there was crossover between the coders and artists
working on these games.

I thought it was widely publicized at the time of the Brute Force launch
that they had been working with Bungie and that engine for Brute Force was
either the same as Halo or that it was tuned so that it worked very
similarly.

Not really a spoiler but I wouldn't read it if you haven't beat the game

It is not only that. If you play the game and get killed your arms go all
funky. It is really fake looking. The first time I died I instantly thought
of Brute Force when one of my team mates dies, his arms would go all funky
and fly into weird positions.

I wouldn't say an artist made the cross over, but dimes-to-nickels I bet a
Brute Force programmer made it over to the Bungie camp.
