Hmmm, last week's show was all about a new President taking
office, and showing us that the vice president is a complete XXXXXXX.
This week continued with an episode entitled "Lost City". Part
one of at least two, I might add.
Anyway, O'Neil has let that ancient knowledge thingie grab his head
(again, apparently) and now the Ga'ould are just about 3 days away
from attacking earth.
The Colonel was relieved as SGC head, and some woman professor
was thrown into SGC as his replacement.

The VP is a surly bastage, intent on getting rid of O'Neil, Carter,
Jackson, et al, and I still don't get *why*. Is this character just an
out-of-bounds control freak? Has he a plan to make money off the
stargate, or what? Or do we know yet?

That man is seriously pissing me off.

You bet he is. It takes me quite awhile to simmer down after
getting that riled up.
Aw, he was nice. Isn't that sweet. And very odd..........

Okay, I'm thawing. But just a smidge!

If I were gay, she wouldn't be my type. Now, Tina Turner
on the other hand........

A short list of possibles:

Lucy Lui (Liu?) <--- Brain fart in progress
(Because she's funny & feisty)

Ellen Degeneres
(Great dancer, generous heart.)

Jessica Alba
(Well, just look at her.)

While both Weir actresses are attractive, neither grab me.

Yep, all those grab me. Even Ellen.

Ah, good times, the end of season 7 nears I think.

He is a "civil rights" weenie who believes that the public domain is the
place for an organization which does off-world travel and encounters
something that threatens the world every other day.

He ostensibly believes the Stargate program should be made public, and
that more use should be made out of it. His "use" does include things
like taking technology when you find it, regardless of whether the world
you find it on needs it at the time. He has ties to the NID (the
civilian organization that wants the Stargate, and had one for a time),
which is not a nice organization at all.

He wants no more military involvement (since he's not a military man),
but instead wants direct civilian governmental control (because he is a
politician).

Yes. That's pretty much his job. Just look at Dick Cheney.

And why not? It works for the other worlds that SG1 visits. I've never
bought the "public will panic" argument. That's a writer's excuse.

Politicians mostly worry about whether people love them. (This is actually
more important to them than money and power. The latter two are just ways
to get the former. And votes are just a way to keep score.) The reason
politicians keep things secret is because they're embarrassing. That's been
the case with most "national security" secrets.

Mmmmmm. In agreement on all of them. No one agrees with me, but
Melissa Ethridge makes me wish I were a lesbian, too. Don't know why
she does it for me, but I lust after her more than I do for most other
women.

This brings me to something that's been on my mind about hurricane
Katrina. It seems to me that there's been a lid slammed down on the ole
info pot as concerns the death toll.
Why the secrecy?

My assumption (and mine alone, as far as I know) is that Bush does
not want a current total out there yet. Part of his damage control, if you
will.
All we're hearing are partial numbers, like when poor souls are
discovered in a hospital or nursing home. It's becoming more than a
bit odd to me, this lack of perspective about the human toll.
