I sit here snacking, watching TV, and reading AGST, and
if the TV program is engaging, I forget about the group while
I watch. So tonight there was a cool Outer Limits, which is
why there are such long spaces in my replies. :D

This happens a lot on Saturday and Sunday nights, but if
you've noticed, Monday through Friday I usually ignore the
late night fodder on NBC and post away.

Now there's a Stargate show coming on, so we'll see.....

Are you kidding? It rocks! It has rocked for years now.

It's not entirely serious, and once you figure that out it's just good
old fashioned fun.

Liked the Russell movie, couldn't get into the series.

I'd have to do a sit-down-and-give-it-a-fair-shake marathon or
something to get interest in it now.

I'd agree over the first couple seasons. But it's grown on me recently.
I've not watched the shows for this season yet, figuring I'll TiVo up a few
while I catch up with other late spring fare. I've gotten behind enough
that I now no longer worry about cliffhangers. I've already got the next
episode in the hopper waiting when that happens. I used to wait a day to
avoid watching commercials. Now I wait a week to avoid cliffhangers.

The first few episodes I saw were a bit glum, but these last few
have been very entertaining. Last night's was about the big fellow
with the gold insignia on his forehead, and the rescue of his son and
others from a mining prison camp, or some such.
Bob help me, I can't remember the character names just 24 hours
later. Let me go peek............

Aha! Teal'c. Keep in mind I'm watching older years' shows, with
Richard Dean Anderson still on board.

The movie was fine, I find it well watchable and fun. This is an
improvement over years ago. The show has form[a|u]lized the Big Evil a
bit, it's not longer just 'an alien', it is part of 'an alien race' that
has used humans for slaves for millenia, and our fight against them.

Season 1 would not be terribly well suited to that. I am not endowed
with such memory that I could tell you which season would be a good
starting point for that, but... yeah.

Of course, you can download whole seasons right now.

Teal'c the father, Rhyac the son. I remember that episode. There are
better ones. The Replicators were fairly nice. The first time we see an
Asgard ship descending through an atmosphere (dark clouds gathering,
thunder roars, etc, Jack O'Neil summed it up with "Oh yeah...")

I guess I'm a bit of a fanboy, though I have no delusions about the
intellectual quality of the show.

Older shows... I'm still voting for a rerun of McGyver, The A-Team and
Knight Rider in one block on an easily accessible evening.

The A-Team was, I think, much more popular over here then over in
Leftpondia. In fact, I think we've pretty much topped most nations of
the world. It's good, clean fun, it has just one plotline which was used
for every single episode, and I enjoyed the hell out of it. I would
probably still do so, today.

James Spader. Kurt Russell played a man of few words in that one. The
brooding silent type. A man with a mission.

And Rheostat's the volume control.

I remember Teal'c's name as the guy who's name sounds like baby powder.

I think my favorite episode is the one where the guy makes a movie based on
SG1's adventures. It has that "Trouble with Tribbles" comedy flavor.

Would that be the episode where a dorky alien with amnesia gets the idea
for a Power Rangers like show called "Wormhole X-Treme!" based on his
deleted memories of working with SG-1?

Or is that the episode where a documentary maker tries to do interviews
with the personnel at the SGC? That had some hilarious stuff in it.

It's called "brain candy". It rots the ol' cognitive faculties, but boy
is it nice.

Besides which, the makes of the show know to have fun with it. Like in
an outtake, Samantha Carter and Jack O'Neil are stuck on a glacier, Jack
nearly dead, and Sam launches into a tirade:
"You spent seven years on MacGyver and you can't figure this one out? We
got belt buckles and shoelaces and a piece of gum; build a nuclear
reactor for cryin’ out loud! You used to be MacGyver, MacGadget,
MacGimmick. Now your Mr. MacUseless. Dear God, I'm stuck on a glacier
with MacGyver!"

This attitude carries over into the show. If the show had, at all times,
taken itself as seriously as some shows do, it would've sucked more XXX
than that lady with the donkeys I keep getting spam about.
quote:

> Yeah, but Mr. T would be kinda old by now, huh? I pitty the foo' that

And Hannibal's dead. Faceman is probably not too facey anymore, and H.M.
Murdock has beamed up to the final frontier.

I, of course, meant the reruns.

And you can't go wrong with MacGyver. Knightrider, possibly, but even
that was much fun.

I saw an interview with Joss Whedon at ComicCon. He said after seeing
Firefly on the big screen, he doesn't know if he wants it to be on the
small screen again. So it seemed like he was hinting at a series of
Firefly movies.

I could live with that.

More and more lately I find that I can tolerate mindless
shoot-em-up, blow-it-up, car chase fun much more than
I used to.
I've always loved sci-fi, aliens, space, spaceships, etc.,
but stuff like the A-Team, that I never, ever watched, might
actually get me as an audience these days.

Sadly, I think it's because I'm just too effing tired to do
anything else. Gah.

I just saw that 2-part episode. It was a bit on the gloomy side,
except for RDA's character in spots. The first part was especially
glum, when the death happens.
I suppose I miss all the "inside joke" stuff, since I'm still sorting
out characters and such. A newbie!

Been a bad bad week here. Had like 6 computers shoot craps. My aunt and
her other half have been hassled by the cops and were arrested illegally
because some one they knew got arrested and started making all sorts of
accusations on people in an attempt to make a deal. My aunt and everyone
turned up to be clean, but the cops are still pissed and trying to stick
something on them. Because of all that DFS took my two little cousins out
and placed them here. An eight year old and a two year old. I'm not a
people person, I'm not a kid person. I've never really been around kids
before for anything more than a couple hours. Been a nightmare. Running
behind in my vinyl orders, with people bitching. My llama that my family
have had for the past 21 years nearly died this weekend from heat stroke,
and when he was ill with that, he also got pneumonia and is having all
sorts of problems with that. My bad arm has been giving me so much pain
to the extent that I've been missing sleep. Its not uncommon for me
anymore to not be able to sleep till 2 or 3am, even if I goto bed at 11 or
12. Don't have any pain medicine for the arm, since the quack shill work
comp doc says "Nothing's wrong" and refuses anymore treatment even though
I still can't use my arm, and its causing lots and lots of pain. Getting
bitched at every little bit by everyone for the slightest little thing
wrong. An example being last friday, didnt get to sleep till 1:30, got
woke up at 4:00 by one of the fans on my computer after it had a bearing
go out, didn't get back to sleep till 5, woke up at 9, missed
breakfast, and even the 8 year old was giving me shit "oh its nice to
see you finally decided to join us". On top of it, I'm really in the mood
to snuggle with a nice lady, yet can't because I've never been anything
but single and none of my friends are the type to want to cuddle with
anyone but their boyfriends.

Although, I thought that comment was a bit funny, since while he's a good
actor, he doesnt have alot of range and so some of his roles always seem
very similar to others he's done in the past.

A duet between KITT and KARR (Knight Automated Roving Robot), of course.

And don't mess with the Hasselhoff, y'know? He gets great reviews:

Yes, the ending was very gloomy. That, of course, was the point of the
episode, but the methods of dealing with the interviewer in the first
episode had me in stitches.

I got tickled when, at the end of the second part, RDA had to
finally sit down and give up an interview.

Teal'c is the coolest- he's a bit like the uber-cool Mr. Spock
in the original Star Trek series. Doesn't get humor at all, that I
have seen.

That's the way I feel about a lot of shows! But since we're going
on about sci-fi mostly, the one I *really* miss is Second Generation.
Whoopie Goldberg as an empathetic bartender was pure genius.
I also dug the empath a whole lot- the beautiful woman whose name
just won't pop into my head.

And which show had that little crook Quark? He just delighted me,
and I could have watched his antics forever.

Seems there's rule that if a show is good (i.e. well written,
entertaining, worthwhile) it must be cancelled immediately! I think TV
executives go through intensive shock-aversion therapy while watching
good shows and are given tasty kibbles while watching degraded and
mind-leeching pap.

Programming managers are like bad waiters that leave the greasy pork
dish on the table while trying to clear the plate you're eagerly
eating from.

How many fan write in campaigns are launched when networks try to pull
the plug? While total crap shows drag out and on.

"A Serpent Guard, a Horus Guard, and a Setesh [Seth. Jackals] Guard meet
on a neutral planet. It is a tense moment. The Serpent Guard's eyes

I was trying to find a movie or such and put it online, but I can't find
the appropriate ones. A quick googling, however (Michael Shanks plays
Daniel Jackson. He and Christopher Judge are RL buddies, which I suppose
helps with work):

And so on and so forth. Now, mind you, this could be photoshopped, but
I've seen it in motion and he actually does this laughing thing. Given
his character, I think the man defines 'acting'.

Cool. I also liked him in Buffy. He played a principal, so the Ferengi
association wasn't entirely misplaced. And he was a lot cooler than the
principal they had before. The fact that that guy was eaten by some of
the students helps, of course.

Of course, I'm sitting here watching the pilot episode of Knight Rider
that just came in the mail thanks to Blockbuster online.

I only got it because I was a big fan of the show when it was on (keep
in mind, I was about 10 years old at the time), but never saw the pilot.
The pilot wasn't as ridiculous as I remember the show being. KITT didn't
micro-jamd anybody's brakes or tennis shoes and didn't shoot Michael up
twenty stores to the top of a building, then help him crack a safe and
warn him when the bad guy was entering the room. It actually wasn't
horribly far-fetched during the pilot.

At least the kids are loving it. I also saw that Sliders has been
released on DVD. There's another pilot episode I missed. Now, if I could
just remember that other show I watched when I was 10 with the two time
travelers with a watch that let them go through time so they could fix
history. I remember they fell from the sky when they went back in time
and had no idea how to properly work the watch to get back to their home
time. I never saw the pilot of that one either.

I also never saw the pilot to Greatest American Hero, but I really doubt
it would be worth putting it in my queue.

Man. I missed a lot of pilot episodes when I was younger.

One episode of the A-Team in particular stands out in my memory. In
every episode, guns were fired, things blew up, yet nobody got hurt. In
this particular episode, however, the bad guys were flying in a
helicopter. It slammed into the side of a mountain and exploded in a big
ball of flame. The camera then cut back to the A-Team getting away.

I was shocked. Somebody just *died* on the A-Team. This was unheard of.
Of course, the camera cut back to the wreckage. Sure enough, the two
guys in the helicopter emerged from the wreckage with nothing more than
some soot on their face.

Hated Sliders. But then I'd read a lot of good alternate history SF and
Sliders blew so many good opportunities.

Loved GAH. But it didn't take the superhero stuff so seriously in the first
place and concentrated more on how it affects the people.

Could you be thinking of Quantum Leap? Loved that show.

Ha! That's the A-Team for ya.

"A-Team" was my review of the first X-Men movie. No one, save for an
extreme minority got hurt. Truly hurt.

However, in X2, Wolverine and Magnito put some serious hurt on some
non-mutants. And dat's fo sho!

If you just saw the episode with the semi-sleazeball interviewer, it's
called Heroes and is from just past the middle of season 7. If it's the
same channel, of course.

There's a very good chance I could get enough information out of a

Might I just point out that if the previous episode *was* heroes (where
the good doctor died), then the next episode will, metaphorically, suck
monkey balls. The best think about "Resurrection" is the opening camera
shot, which lasts a few minutes and is all done in a single take, with
the camera guy walking, stepping onto a crane, being swung about,
stepping off, walking, stepping onto another crane, then finally walking
a bit.

Egg zackly. Seeing Wolverine ripping through the lungs of that first
assault guy in a fury was a bit shocking at first, and then it made
perfect sense; it's what he does. But for mutants with awesome powers,
they rely far too much on hand-to-hand martial-art like combat.

It fits the darker theme of X-men.

The A-team, however, is about a bunch of guys who got screwed and are
getting right under the noses of their pursuers.

Ah yes, here's the summary of tonight's episode:
http://www.tv.com/stargate-sg1/revi...11/summary.html

Well, it's only 2 years old, which is better than I thought. Not

in over the local FOX channel, and not the SciFi network.

Neat epsisode, by the way.

Ugh. My eggs are having blue fits- will finish reading tomorrow.....
