You might have eaten it unknowingly. Faux scallops
are still made from some shark meat, and fake crab used
to be made from it, too. But another fish was found that
mimics crab better, so "surimi" isn't shark meat anymore.
But watch out for scallop dishes on a buffet line.......

I've never had scallops either.

Tasty. You must try. And not really "that's different from chicken
how?" like, say, alligator meat is.

I used to eat shark all the time, it's excellent, especially Mako. But I
stopped eating it when I started surfing... ;)

Cant say I blame you there- rather chewy and tasteless, to me.
I'd much rather have shrimp, or crab, or lobster, or cod, or..........

Ah... what a time to be eating fish and chips. :D

I had deep fried coconut shrimp (from a box, using a Costco tabletop deep
fryer) last night, with mango chutny sauce. Yum.

Shit, now I'm hungry, and I just got settled in comfortably.
Say, are the chips nice and greasy, with a good bit of salt?
If so, I begrudge you the tasty meal, as I had supper at that
fine Scottish restaurant tonight. The chips (french fries, here)
are pretty good, but you *really* have to be hungry to enjoy
the burgers.
Dammit. I wonder if there's leftover pizza...................

I had some like that at a food show. They were okay, but
the coconut flavor seemed out of place to me. We buy some
that came out at the same time, which have a rich, buttery taste
in the crispy batter. Yum!
I think they're in the grocery stores now, too.
These days, some of the prepared foods in the freezer
section of the market rival, if not best, made-from-scratch foods.
Getting to sample the newest stuff is one bonus Ross' job has,
and we are often amazed at the high quality of frozen entrees.
Every now and then we find something that's totally offensive,
but not as often as you'd think. Especially in high-end desserts!
Some of the frozen stuff is better than fresh-made!

I used to live on Red L hors d'oeuvres but they stopped shipping to
California, the bastards! A few years ago they were bought up by Steakumm,
which ships its own stuff here but not the Red L brand. Their cheese puffs
are to die for.

Say, I'll ask Ross we carry those. The brand may be available
to non-grocery outlets. Got any friends in the restaurant business?

I can't think of any, alas. But stepwife goes to the Fancy Food Show each
year, dragging us all along as her "catering business". ;) She gets all
kinds of samples and catalogs during the year.
