My laptop came with XP Home and runs both T2 and DT just fine. It's just
that the stupid updater that Sierra installs by default in the T2 shortcut
is severely broken. Once you get over that hurdle, running on XP is no more
painful than on any other WinOS. You probably changed your shortcut long
ago for your desktop and just don't remember doing so. Anyone who played
for any length of time did, to quickly get past the annoying updater and
login screens.
