Found her.

A wee, sweet, 8-week-old female puppy of mixed
parentage, at the Humane Society today. A purported
mix of Chow and Terrier, but we see neither.
Just a furry little bundle of puppy love.

I know, I know, you want pics. This time I'll get them
up fairly soon, I promise.

You know, she looks a bit like milk with just a bit of
flavor or color mixed in........a real light tan, with slightly
darker ear and tail tips.

I'll have to ask Ross what he thinks of "Nutmeg", but
his ex wife's name was Margaret............... ROFL

Um, I better search for some alternatives. His sister-
in-law's name is also Margaret..............and he likes *her*.
:D

Oh holy shit what a fright. By the time we got to the vet's
office Wednesday afternoon I was afraid it might be too late-
the puppy started getting sick Sunday night, and by Wednesday
morning she wasn't even trying to keep water down any more.

When "parvo" came out of our vet's mouth, I thought I'd die
right there on the spot. Because by then, we were total fools
over our new fur baby, had named her Jessica, and were scared
shitless that she might have something really nasty, like Parvo.

Luckily, veterinary medicine has advanced at a fast pace, and
viral diseases like parvo are no longer automatic death sentences.
I've never had a dog who got parvo virus, so I was pretty ignorant
about it, except that dogs needed the immunizations for it.

So we came home with an anti-emetic for the vomiting, and an
antibiotic for prevention of any complications, and by suppertime
today our puppy is almost back to her Saturday self.
We couldn't feed her until she hadn't vomited for 24 hours, and
man is she making up for lost time!

So anyway, we'll be back to near-normal around here soon, and
I'll have lots of photos of Jessica posted on my site so I can show
her off.

I approve. I've seen a lot of babes with that name. ;) Like the actress in
Logan's Run. (Does that date me or what?)

Parvo is a big deal? One of our dogs had it at about 8 months. Vet
acted like it was nothing at all. She (the dog) recovered in no time,
and actually showed almost no signs of even being sick. And this
happened just over 10 years ago. So I knew Parvo could be bad, but I
thought basically if it was diagnosed, it was fixed. Good to know in
case we ever get more dogs.

Yeah, it used to be that parvo pretty much was fatal. If it was caught
early, its curable, but if not, its kinda hopeless.

I was totally ignorant about it, except having heard the dire
warnings of not having the dog vaccinated. This evening I heard
a horror story about 'corona virus', so one of my next Google
searches will be to learn about *that*.

Sheezus, all I ever really worried about was ticks, fleas, and
the really odd chance of having a rabid wild animal break into
the house............. ,)

I'd pretty much figured it was as deadly as distemper. But
thank goodness it's no longer!! Jessica is fine now, chewing
on oodles of toys, hers or not, and pissing all over the floor....

Potty training all over again. AUGH. Opinions?
