Man. I never realized just how hard it is to move the mouse without the
use of your thumb. I guess I won't be playing any games anytime soon. I
thought I sucked before, but now, I'd be beaten by a bot in T2.

FWIW, I use my thumb to click the primary mouse button, and my index finger
to click the secondary. I started doing this when I began to get RSI in my
mouse hand, and it helped (and still helps, AFAICT).

Flushing's not a problem, since I can use my left hand.

Wiping, on the other hand. . . (no pun intended BTW)

Nothing major. Just deQuervain's Tendonitis. The problem is that my
thumb is in a splint that makes me permanently feel like "The Fonz." So,
using a mouse isn't exactly easy to do. I have to choices. I can either
mouse with my left hand. It's awkward, but not horrible. I might be able
to get used to it.

The other option is to use a stylus.

Since the tendonitis is in my thumb, I'm not sure if that would help. I
just tried with my left hand, and my thumb's in the same position either
way.

Yeah, I know about the whole wiping thing. When I put my fist through
the window a year ago and had 13 stitches and couldn't use my right
hand.....wiping my XXX was DIFFICULT!

Okay, this is just plain *weird*. I developed that in my left hand
recently by continuously gripping the wood I was carving very tightly.
A mild case in my instance, but it still hurts if I move that thumb 'just
so', and I stopped carving for awhile.
Actually, hitting the space bar pisses it off a bit........

Dang dude, won't a stylus be as bad? Seems to me the grip will
be the same sort of aggravation. At any rate, take care of yourself
and let that tendon heal. I don't want you to start falling apart the way
I am. :D

Oh, I can so relate to this! LOL The motion needed to position
oneself properly to accomplish the task makes my bad back holler in
indignation. I never realized that reaching around involved bending a bit
backwards. Man, that pisses off a blown disc!

So, why did you put your fist through a window?

There's two methods I can easily think of, which are the reach-behind
(which I'm assuming you're talking about) or the reach-under.
Methodologies are obvious, I'd say.

I am, however, given to understand[1] that American toilets have a very
high waterlevel (with scant inches to spare underneath), so perhaps the
reach-under is less adviseable in situations where it is needed with
those kinds of toilets.

cool, sounds like that would reduce spash-back.
Cos i hate having to waste precious toilet roll to lessen the landing of my
waste.

It lessens it, but it also reduces the distance between water and bum.

Me, I'm a proponent of the shelf-toilets, with the shelf beneath the...
sitting area, and the hole in front. A few sheets of toilet paper reduce
cleanup time, and no splashback at all.

I actually meant "touch pad." I don't know why I said "stylus."

From a female perspective, the reach-under method is discouraged.
Seems it's far too easy to transfer harmful bacteria from one nether region
to another, causing a very unpleasant infection.
"Front to back!" was a common instruction when I was younger and
going to the OB/GYN more frequently. So unless the reach-under could
be performed efficiently while still sitting, and abiding the "front to back" rule,
one is still required to contort and twist the back a bit.

Higher water level? Perhaps, but I find that hard to believe what with
the newer, water-saving toilets I've had in the houses I've lived in. Hard to
make a splash in that scant amount of water............

Oh, wait, I think I see- Euro johns are deeper? That makes sense. Even
shorties like me have our knees at eye level it seems while sitting on the
throne. I'm seriously thinking of getting a 'handicapped' toilet so it's not so
dang low.

It depends. The old style toilet were deeper, but alot of the new lowflow
toilets seem to be a bit longer, but way more shallow. The toilets in the
new house I am moving into, go to wipe and if I aint careful, I'll get my
hand wet.
