| Sorry I have not heard of this. I think you need to buy the game and
then you get a 30 day trial. But you do have to shell out the 20 or so
dollars to purchase the disks.

More like $40 for them here in Sweden, IF you can find them. A bit much just
to test it in my opinion.

| Hrmmm Well I would say it is worth a go IF you are interested in a
social game. If you are looking for something to just play now and
again and hang out alone you may want to look elsewhere. But if you
like the StarWars universe it is worth the money just to see how well
they got the "feel"
My two cents.... just 1900 more of those you will have 40 bucks...

Googling for "Star Wars free trial" you get tons of hits, but they're alla
expired. Someone said that it should still be possible to get a 2 week trial
though...
Just hopes that someone will step up and tell me just HOW to do that?
Best Wishes

The 2 week trial was back in the days long before the Combat Upgrade hit
live. I think more than a year ago, if not longer. There is no trial
whatsoever afaik. When swg was launched i paid like 80 bucks for it
(germany). Consider yourself "lucky" if you only pay 40 now. j/k

Going to sony.station.com would be your best bet. Regardless of whether you
get the free trial or not, you will still have to pay for the software. The
trial just keeps you from having to pay subscription fees (14.95 per month
USD). Yes, I know that seems bogus. But that's Sony for you. You can get the
ultimate package with SWG plus at least 2 of the expansions for 29.95 USD.
Either bite the bullet and pay, or forget it. Just make sure you understand
that this IS a social game. If you intend on never having interaction with
other players, you will find yourself board within that trial (if you get
it). You have to contact armorsmiths for good armor, weaponsmiths for good
weapons, architects for high quality structures. Sure, you can find the
cheap stuff on the bazaar, but you'll learn it's better to pay double and
get the good stuff.

The point of trials is to test without paying for software and thus
comitting. They do it for both EverQuest I and II which you can doanload for
free and run for a week or two and earn your first few levels without
payinga cent. After that you'll ahve to buy the software and pay for online
time offcourse, but by then you should ahve a fair idea what you're getting
into. Having to pay the full price just to find out is simply stupid.
Best Wishes

Like I said, that's Sony for you. I tried out Anarchy Online recently and
found that I don't like it enough to pay for it. It had a free download like
the others you mentioned. SWG just doesn't roll with the rest of the crew.

With Dark Age of Camelot, you can download the free 14 day trial, after
that if you want to continue, you just pay the subscription and that's
it, nothing more to pay, unless you want the two latest expansions.
That's how all MMO should work IMO. Either free or a nominal cost for
the initial software, then they make their money from the subscriptions.

not the best place for games requiring a code as second hand/non sealed
games will have their codes used and many sealed are pirate copies with
unusable codes.

Hey if you go to MMORPG.com you can see all of the better MMORPG games and
those that offer a free trial. Right now I can think of Anarchy Online, EVE
Online and DAOC offering either a free trial or free gameplay with the basic
account for a period of time. There are also several that offer totally
free gameplay all the time. It is one of my favorite sites out there but
there are still people that don't know about it.

In all fairness AO is an older game but the Shadowlands expansion is what
got me as a paying customer. I think they should let everyone play SL as it
IMHO totally destroys SWG gameplay wise. SWG is still better eye candy but
I just got tired of all the time I spent running/driving around between the
good parts (actual action). I am grinding FS now and for those that have
done it you can back me up it is no picnic. AO on the other hand has dated
graphics but a lot more action and it is a much deeper game when it comes to
developing your toon over the long haul.
So play SWG if you really get a kick out of changing your toons eye color
and a lot of other things that you never really see on a daily basis and
have nothing to do with the actual gameplay but I would rather be where the
action is. SWG really should give everyone access to, say, one planet (say
tatooine) and let them upgrade to a paying customer if they like it. AO
lets you play the entire original game and for over a year if you like for
free but a lot of folks that don't like it never get off noob island and
never experience everything,.
Just imagine if SOE let players actually play the game in advance for free
with no credit card. I think as soon as a lot of folks got mired in the lag
swamp that is in most critical areas of the game, and attempted to contact a
GM or even SOE customer service for help, you would have a lot less SWG
players out there and SOE would have to address some of the real problems
with the game instead of constantly working on the next game ruining nerf
(and sometimes speedy un-nerf when everyone rebels).
I have said it before on here, SOE has to start taking care of the customer
while they still have customers.
