Summer is over, back to SWG!
|
|
|
| So wife & I come back to SWG 2-3 weeks ago. My plan was to make as much
money as possible before JTL. Nothing good was up on our server to hunt, I
was selling off some good wholly via the bazaar thing but basically just
hunting the best meat & selling it cheap. Before hunting we would stand in
line for a half hour to pay 12K for buffs. Wife decides to go Master Doc
from CM, an easy switch right? Share many of the same resources even. She
wants to sell buffs...! Sounds great!
We find we are in need of ALOT more stuff. Like crafting aprons, buffing
clothes, & harvesters... Seems there was a bit of inflation over the summer
eh? shheeeshhh... After 1 MILLION CREDITS later, she still couldn't make
good buffs over 2K for 3hrs. I take over the crafting.... search through
our 5 buildings, 3 factories, banks (3 accounts) for the right resources...
We spend evenings harvesting some decent Avian meat. Beg borrow steal (ok I
couldn't steal but I would if I could) some C4 petro... I finally create 6
schematics for the 6 buffs, all just over 2K & all well over 3hrs. /cheer
Good enough to sell!
So off to Cnet yesterday, with our 100K crate of Biloli, droid batteries, &
a buffing macro... gah! What a pain in the XXX. Make sure you got all
the right buffs out, make sure your bivoli hasn't wore off, watch out for
people taking cuts, tells tells tells, "how much, how good, I only need
quickness, how come buffs so low, OMG my BF! can you rebuff!?! want to
hunt?, want to hang out?, what to have sex..?" Of course there is some
clown there selling buffs for 7K, lowest I have seen since last winter.
Didn't really matter, the lines never stopped forming.
Yes, we made some credits, with our own buffs so it was alot more
profitable. Haven't broke even yet on the investment but we will very soon
with this kinda cash flow. But it turned out to be not as easy as it looked
& the making the buffs is truly a pain. But wth, keeps me outa trouble.
This was just a story about our SWG experience, hopefully slightly
entertaining.

| I feel you.
Welcome to a MD's life in SWG.
Everyone thinks MD's make super credits for sitting on their butts. It's
not true.
All that stuff costs a ton, biolvi, havla, all the resources for the buffs,
Bio clothing, droid batteries, harvestor maintenance, power, paying ungodly
amounts of credits (150cpu) for decent avian, herbivore meat, on and on.
And then some dork who has no clue, who bought his from another doc comes
along and sells as good or better buffs than the ones you managed to craft
for half as much as YOU need to charge to make a decent profit. He's got no
idea whether he's making money or losing it, and let me tell you, on my
server at 7k, he's not making any money. He's just there to be a dick.
Do what I do, after MD, just master another elite combat class, and do
missions in a solo group. Buffing the public is a pain in the butt, and it
is nowhere near as profitible as people think. If it were, I could handle
all the rudeness you put up with doing it. But in order to make it worth it,
buffs should be twice what is it on my server at the very minimum. People,
12k to 15k for over 3 hours of making you near INVINCIBLE is a drop in the
bucket.
Bah whatever.

| Also wanted to mention, hats off to all you MD's that make buffs to sell to
the rest of us. Without you, the game would not work. Thanks a ton.

| I agree - thanks to all the master doc buffers! They do make it easy and i
have no qualms paying up to 15k for a buff session. Very easy to make that
money back with a solo group mission. I tried the crafting thing when I
started and it truly is a grind and painful. So once again, kudos to the
buffers.

| While I don't mind buffing people, I can make a lot more money just by
buffing myself and running missions for cash. Hell, I make more money
selling Lokian Wild Wheat to other doctors.

Hehe, Getting your buffs right as a Doc is no joke. Personally I've
never buffed for cash, I find I can make more money doing other, less
boring, things.
Anyway there's no way I could live without one of my toons being doc
now. I'd hate to have to queue for a set.

| Personally, the only reason I would want to be a doc is for being able to use
res kits. I'm happier as a master medic. I'd like it even more if they would
give res kits to the medics.

| I had the same trouble but I'll tell you, I found a very easy way of making
money. I was tred of being at the mercy of others, waiting in endless lines
for a buff, then trying to group with an entertainer for a mind buff and
THEN being able to go out and do something. I created a 2nd character, got
him to where he could buff and mind buff...thats all he does or can do. I
mind buff myself and regualer buff myself (my other char) and then i go get
in a solo group on dantooine and hunt Mokk's out of monestary. 30-33K each
mission, good loots, fast and easy to kill (master tka) and i make 600K to
650K in one buff session, i never did grind anything for doc, i just buy
the buff packs (89 med use level) and buff myself whenever and wherever i
want and off i go. This is the fastest way I've seen to make money and get
some good loots. Have fun!

| I don't personally get buffs except for very rarely. They are worth the
money and all but I hate waiting What I do instead is use Valerian
Brandy, Won Won and other food buffs, then add spice to it prior to missions
or engaging in combat. As a trandoshan ranger / CH / pistoleer I do ok in
combat anyhow and since I opted for CH, I think I have been able to avoid
what other classes have been going through. Just my thoughts though.

Your thanks is appreciated
I took up doc, at first, just for the ability to buff myself. I found I
really enjoy the profession, and like helping people. I tend to not do
buff lines, because that is about the most thankless way for me to make
money... and yes, I do make money doing it.
I harvest all my own meat, resources, everything. That's the only way
to turn a profit. But, as I said, I usually don't buff the public, it's
just not something I can sit through anymore.
Buff prices on Radiant are low, very low. My 2560/3h25m buffs (all 6,
across the board) usually sell for around 11k-12k for a set. It is much
easier for me to buff myself, armor up, hop into a solo group in the
Dant MO, and just take off on janta/mokk missions. I tend to make
around 1 mil+ for a buff session (Teras Kasi Master).
I'm not hurting for money though, so I even tend to do that as little as
possible.
I prefer to hang around with friends, go out in groups to say hello to
the Nightsisters, take groups to the Geo Caves, etc. I'm a social
gamer, not a "gatta have the best" one.
