Hello,

I'm trying to get D2X-XL working and I'm almost there, but for the fact
that I can't get the CD audio working.

When I put in X in the box for redbook audio, I keep getting:
"SORRY
CANNOT START CD MUSIC.
INSERT YOUR DESCENT II CD AND TRY AGAIN
OK"

And thats it. I can retry all I want - same result. Everything else
seems to be working fine.

I've searched various web sites but apparently am missing any relevant
data or fixes.

The VERSION of D2X-XL is 1.6.168 (freshly downloaded). I'm running
this on XP (sp2) with MS-updates if that matters.

Near as I can tell, all my audio and cd drives work fine. I've checked
them out with audio CD and DVDs - this all works.
I'll post further system data if someone wants it.

Thanks for any ideas!

-Best Regards!

One last thing: MY SINCERE THANKS TO THE PROGRAMMERS (Of all the
Descent revival programs!)

Perhaps you could be even more officious, mate . . .

Actually, I'll retract the original post. The D2X-XL, though feature
rich is proving unstable on my system regardless of the version I'm
running. It must be my PC.

The DX2-Rebirth program seems a good deal more stable - though it's
minus a ton of cool features of D2X-XL. (And it won't play Redbook
audio either - thats why I think my PC is the root of the issue.)

At any rate - I just want to play Descent again. I'll play some more
with D2X-XL later some day and see where I get.

At the risk of sounding officious ;) ...

Thanks!

D2X-XL has a command line switch to specify the CD drive the Descent CD
is residing in. Check the switches doc on www.descent2.de.
