| Hello all. I've just recently gotten back into Freespace 2, and have been
tearing away at testing out ideas for missions in FRED2. I've run into a bit
of a block though: I can't figure out how to give medals/awards in a custom
campaign, like you could in FS1 using the original FRED. Unfortunately I
lost my copy of FS1 during a move sometime ago, and haven't been able to get
a new one as of yet to reference back to.
If anyone has any suggestions or helpful knowledge on this, please let me
know

As far as I know, you can't do it within FRED. Even after multiple
searches, the option isn't visible.
Your best bet is to medify the mission file directly with a text editor and
add the following lines:
$Formula: ( when ( true ) ( grant-medal "Medal of Valor" ) )
+Name: Event name
+Repeat Count: 1
+Interval: 1
+Team: 0
From there, you can select any medal you wish from within FRED.

The easiest method is to check how the official missions do it...
