Author Descent2: Problem finding switch for forcefield

Hello,

I am playing Descent2, Turnabout Bore, level 2. I can not find the
switch to turn off the forcefield that is blocking the red key. Any
help would be welcome.

Thanks: Frank

IIRC, it is behind the forcefield iteself. You have to shoot through it to
hit the switch.

Thank You Raymond, that solved my problem. There are a few barriers
at the end of mine shafts that I have not been able to open but they
not block progress to the next level.

Thanks again, Frank

Some of those barriers can be opened when you have just blown the reactor,
as the switch is generally in close view. There's some additional bonuses,
but nothing to be too excited over.

The helix cannon area would be one of the more annoying secrets on the
level. Those secrets can be opened, but you only have a limited amount of
time before they close. The FAQ does describe one way to do it, but even I
find it a bit difficult to perform.

Take this fairly easy way listed on my page (where you can also download a
demo and get a map screenshot), http://moon.descent-3.com/d2howto.html:

Fly through the secret door (1) into the room above. Now you are behind the
grate oppsite to the Helix Cannon. Shoot all bots in this room as well as
the trigger behind the grate where the Helix Cannon is placed. Now place a
Smart Mine (Proximity won't do) in front of the trigger on your side. Be
sure the secret door is opened otherwise the mine will explode as you
descend to the hallway. Now you´ve got about 30 sec. to fly to the secret
door (3) until the mine activates the trigger that opens the door.
