Author Freespace 2 afterburner question

Is it just me, or is the afterburner broken (i.e., no different from just
hitting A, not affecting the thrust bar or accelerating the ship above top
speed)? (I'm running 1.20, so lack of patching shouldn't explain it.)

Never had any problems with it. The only two things I would check is if
you have the key correctly bound, and that you have charge in the
afterburner.

I do have it bound right (it didn't work with the default TAB or joystick
button 6, being rebound to TAB, or being bound to Q), and I do have charge
(even at the start of a mission, this happens).

I do admit that I haven't tried 98 compatibility mode (I'm under XP); it's
fixed niggling things like this in other games. I'll go do that now.

Houston, we have a solution. *bangs head against desk repeatedly for not
trying this until now*
