| Every time I load D3, it locks up after playing for about 5 - 10 minutes. I
am playing on XP I am working with a small group of players, all having the
same problem. Differnt machines, video cards and configs, only common point
is XP Pro. Changing compatability mode doesn't fix problem. Have
uninstalled and reinistalled and still locks up in the middle of game play.
Does the same with D3 Mercenary - any suggestions.

What about latest video/sound drivers?
Joystick drivers?
Direct X 9?
I've been running D3 in XP Pro for about 1 yr with no problems at all.
Do you have custom objects in D3?
Custom ships?
They may be the problem.

| Thanks for the quick response
Have all the latest drivers for joystick,video and sound. Using v1.4 patch
DirectX9
The installation is a vanilla install nothing custom, no custom ships - just
an outof the box install and 1.4 update.
There are several in this group running XP and are having the same problem.
They can load and play for about 5 to 10 minutes and then we hear "ding" see
the white mouse and the game is locked up. All version are retail no
copies.

maybe if we started some sort of database of the configs of people with this
problem we could find the commonality and hence, maybe fix it
something tells me the people who made the game are not concerned
also, last few days i have not been able to log on to PXO, anyone else have
this problem too?

Sounds like maybe some application is stealing focus from Descent, and
Descent isn't handling it well. XP and its blasted tray balloons could
be an issue. Also make sure to close IM apps and the like. And if
you're using a modem, make sure to turn off the "Idle time before
disconnect" option--Windows apparently thinks your connection is idle
while you're gaming (it's done that to me, anyway--guess if you're not
using IE, you're not online, in their estimation).
