I have Descent3 installed and patched to version 1.4.
I used the Gamespy server browser to look for games,
but when I try to connect to a server, I go to the
Descent3 startup screen instead of connecting.
Also, in multiplayer configuration the options are:
Heat.net, PXO (both of which I have been told are
obsolete), tcp/ip,ipx,lan, but nothing specifically
for my broadband cable connection.
1. How should I set my multiplayer configuration for
a cable modem connection?
2. Is KALI still around?
3. I heard about a "patch 1.5". Is this an official
patch, and where can I find it.

Thanks
Fusion

TCP/IP being the protocol pretty much the whole internet is based on,
that is what you want. ;)

Yes. As a matter of fact, it was just picked up again not too far back
and is once again in active development.

No; there supposedly was an 1.5 patch in the making, but it never made
it to release.

As for the Gamespy problem, I'm afraid I can't help you there. Maybe
someone else knows more.

Bye,

The 1.5 patch was finished for Windows but never officially released
because Mac and Linux version weren't finished. Since the patch fixes a lot
of bugs lots of ppl already use it anway. More info here:

I just went through this recently myself. First of all, make sure that
when you rund d3, the ver 1.4 shows in the bottom right of the screen.
Sometimes it looks as if the patch went through when it did not and you
need the patch to play multiplayer.

I would recomend Kali. Be aware that you will only find several games at
any one time. Online games are not as available as they once were.

Note that In Kali, you use the "Internet Games" interface rather than
connecting to the <descent> server as you may have done with d1 or d2.

This site can track and also provide an interface for you to join games
as well:

This forum is where this NG has moved to. Took me about 10 tries to join!

I hate forums. I suppose the young kids like forums better than usenet.

When you get online, be prepared to get a whoopin. Those that still play
are very good. Maybe you and I should face off?
