| I have a Win9x version of A-10 Cuba! that I bought from EB
some years back off those $5.00 jewel case software racks they used to
have. The version of the game is v1.3.0. It's a Softkey CD-ROM
distrubution. Is this a cut down version of the full game? There's no
mission planner, or a campaign mode. Just 12 combat + 4 training
missions to choose from + multiplayer modem/network mode.
It runs fine under WinXP Pro SP2 at 1024x768 using Win95
compatability mode on my Athlon64 3800+ with 1GB RAM, and 7600GT
PCI-e. If this is a limited version, I'd like to get the full game.
I'm guessing there is no v1.3.0 patch for the full game. Does the v1.2
work under WinXP Pro SP2?

| I lost my copy of the game somewhere along the line, and haven't ever
tried it on XP, so I can't help you with that, but it sounds like
you've got the full version - 12 missions is all there is.
Now you've reminded me of it, I'm going to have to track down a copy of
it again. Didn't someone used to have it available for free download,
i.e. as abandonware - anyone know?
Cheers,
Nick

You can buy v1.5 from chips & bits for $1.95. But visit the underdogs site
first for the pre 1.5 version for free (have pop-up blocker ON):

Oh yeah. I think I saw that for download somewhere, I will look.
I have a copy in a jewel case here but not sure if my machine is powerful
enough.
Requires 486/DX2 66MHz, 8MB RAM, 40MB HD Space, 1MB Video.
Maybe check out Amazon.com:

Yeah and it was expensive as shit, too--not very much game for the money,
although it was among the first flight sims to support dual monitors, IIRC.

| Funny how everyone has a different perspective...
....I ran the original Mac version in one of Buzz Hoffman's cockpits with
3 monitors back in a early MacWorld Expo. Su27 Flanker and chits were
born from A10...as well as the mouse clickable cockpit and mouse panning
view system.
A revolutionary sim in physics model and suspension of disbelief
standpoint...IMO.

For those able to afford the extra hardware, I suppose it was. And I didn't
say that what sim there was wasn't a good sim.
