I just got the Windows95 comp CD of Dynamix's
"Great Planes" computer flightsimulators.

On the CD are ....
1] "Red Baron"
2] "Aces Over Europe"
3] "Aces Of The Pacific"
4] "A-10 Tank Killer"

They all work *perfectly ....
Except the one I want the most "Aces Over Europe". lol

When I activate it I see the opening cinema just fine.
But then a box pops up that says I don't have enough memory to run it
None of the others on the CD do this.
I have 512 MBs of RAM lol

Any help, PLEASE ?

Thanks In Advance!

Have you tried to run it in Win95 compatibility mode? Just right-click
the programs .exe file and select the mode. This has worked for me on
many occasions.

The "memory" it is saying you're short of, isn't your ram memory, like
you're thinking. It is conventional memory, and iirc, it needs around 610k.
If that makes you go, "Huh ?", then nevermind <g>

Two files need to be edited; autoexec.bat and config.sys

Yeah, since there is a base conventional memory of 640kb it was an ART
those days to free up as much as possible! I used to have a startmenu back
then with all possibilities of xms, ems, with drivers loaded into umb and
all that crap. Unfortunately Win95, 98, me and xp made a lazy bastards out
of me, as all that didn't matter anymore. I don't know jack of it
anymore :/

Yup, I actually got 635k free at one time, (you
need 635,800 or so to get the *special effects") but
had to leave the mouse out at first. Got real good
at planning flights tho. Then got a book on base
mem and was thrilled to get the mouse back.
(still have it and the 486, with 1mb VESA video !)
All is still loaded up on the old box.
The F 18, is my favorite of the F 3 A/C, tho the MiG 29
was right there to. (remember A/G bombing with it ?)
Outrunning the numerous Stingers was always fun too...

Now it's IL2 FB 4.04m, LOMAC 1.12a, and BOB 2.01
It's online, and vulching all the way for me.
(except BOB) HyperLobby has lots of IL 2 people
all the time. LOMAC people seem to come out at night.
Nothing like hosing down arrogant Spitfire
pilots right after takeoff while in an I 153
It gets even better when they think that they can
actually turn with you, lol... F them...
(You will find me in an all white I 153 on HL)
Shooting down A 10's, and F 15's while in an Su 33
or MiG 29S aint too bad either........
Occasionally, i will fire up F 4 FF 3, but havnt in
a long while, but will have to, now that I have
trackir 4 pro. (shame no EAW profile with trackir)

Right now, it's BOB, WoV. The documentary video that
came with it, was worth the price of the sim alone !

AOE was alot like PAW in that it worked best with a bootdisk. After
installing there should be a bootdisk program in the folder. I believe
you'll have to use an old 3.5 floppy.

Do a google on editing these files for this game. That'd be the easiest.

p.s. DosBox is MUCH easier........

DosBox is easier to setup than editing the config.sys and autoexec.bat.
What OS you using anyway? To get enough memory editing those files you
have to load certain devices in the right order. For dos mouse driver
use Cute Mouse driver as it uses very little memory.
