Author X360 Over-G Fighters Decent?

Looks like the XBOX 360 is getting a decent flight "sim" title added to its
library end of June called "Over G". So far it looks good, but it is
probably no more "realistic" than Ace Combat series on the PS2. I am hoping
for a little bit more realistic physics and maybe some semblance of modal
avionics. Of course if they do this then they need to release a HOTAS for
it. If it is decent, and they release several, then it might make the X360
worthwhile after all.

Anyone else know much about it?

Nope, only that I'm getting it once it comes out

on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the
dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time,
like tears in rain. Time to die.

This game is basically a prettied up port of the PS2 game "Energy
Airforce". It is more on the sim side as far as console flight game
goes. More simmy than AC. The original game even supported a flight
helmet with built-in HUD (sadly.. didn't make it out of Japan).

Yup, I've played Over G, UbiSoft (Lock On distributor) will resell the
title in US.

It has two mode of play, with "Expert" mode, its authenticity is about
the level of old PC game U.S.A.F.

For example, you got simplified radar operation, only cyclic targeting.
but radar performance is somehow affected by closure rate, angle off
tail, antenna position (though you cannot control the scan bar)

HUD presentation is near authentic with some symbol omitted.

You also got to evade incoming missile like old time PC sim. meaning
eject chaff/flare properly and pulling evasive maneuver. but no jammer
operation.

Aerodynamic handling characteristic is pretty good, for F-15, it's
about the same of Janes F-15.

For dogfight-happy simmers, the title have a system called FVS, Free
View System. basically it operates like padlock view in Falcon series,
and to my personal experience, it's more intuitive to operate than
padlock view in Falcon.

It's good to see taito release the game on XBOX360. Wish this can
triger higher interest in developing decent SIM for the console system,
the capability is there. and Ubisoft is huge successful with their
squad tactic sim Ghost Recon for XBOX360. I personally would not say no
to another flight sim. ;)
