Saitek X45 problems

| I have been using a Saitek X45 joystick/throttle combo for a while. Recently
the rudder control (on the throttle) has gone haywire. It is steady when the
control is centered (normal), but when I try to turn either way it flicks
and switches the rudder from side to side! This makes the plane
uncontrollable.
I have tried unplugging the X45 set and using the keyboard and that is fine.
Reinstalling the Saitek drivers has done nothing for the problem either.
The X45 is only about a year old so hopefully it is not shot already!
Has anyone else had a problem?
Thank-you
Nigel

I bought my X45 when it first came out (been a while now). My rudder
rocker went flakey. I bought some electrical contact cleaner, unscrewed
the throttle from the base and separated the two halves enough to get
into the guts of it. I sprayed the slider pot with the cleaner and
worked it a bit until I thought it had time to work in, then put it
back together. Seemed to have solved my problem. Takes a little patience
to get all the bits lined up right when you put the halves back together.
Might also help to have a little canned air to blow things out.

| Scott,
Sounds tricky stuff but I will bear it in mind as a (near) last resort.
Glad it worked for you.
Thanks
Nigel
