Movie "Stealth" - Mini Review

| Possibly some spoilers in here, however minor, so read with caution.
Went to go see the movie "Stealth" today. Of course being a PC flyboy I
emptied any knowledge of flight from my head as I expected it to be all
action and little realism. While it ended up being mostly true, it was very
entertaining. Aircraft pulling impossible G's while fully armed with bombs
(internal bays mind you), running a scramjet engine to Mach 3+ with very
little capacity for fuel, although fuel availability (or lack of) did play a
big part in the movie. Military comms terminology was at least believeable
and there wasn't a lot of "Roger this" and "Roger that". Munitions were
nothing I'd heard of before, and seemed to do a large amount of damage
considering their size.
The concept aircraft were pretty cool and actually had some merit. Forward
swept swings that extend outboard at slower speeds, but rotated inboard to
create an almost "diamond" shaped aircraft at supersonic speeds. The cockpit
was pretty busy, and had in-pit cams of the other wingies. What the purpose
of that is, who knows. Kind of something like you'd see in the Speed Racer
cartoon, or Transformers, but whatever. Nap of the earth flying was a little
too tight since clipping trees and antennas and tiles off buildings at 500+
knots would be nothing short of devastating for an aircraft.
The "Eddy" computer controlled UCAV was too Knight Rider-esque, but I guess
it was consistent with the rest of the movie. The rear of Eddy's aircraft
had like a flexible skin that looked like it would help redirect the exhaust
for VTOL type launches and landings.
Some plot lines didn't make much sense after thinking about it a bit, but
won't add those in this review, since it will spoil what plot points it did
have.
All in all, I'd recommend it to us flight sim buffs taking it with a grain
of salt, ignoring what we know is reality, and enjoy it for what it is: an
intense action flick.

I tried to avoid that comment, but yes, her jets were on afterburner in that
bikini!
