| OK I'm looking at a new controler set up after a few years break in flight
sims.
I was using a Thrustmaster FLCS and thought about the Cougar but shipping to
Canada alone is $100 on top of the price and duty. A CH Fighterstick and Pro
Throttle while not as sexy is a good deal cheaper and I can get on in
country.
What is the general oppinion on the CH set up before I spend a good deal of
money?

I'd take CH any day, over anything else. It just plain works, and lasts.

| Excellent equipment, excellent support. The site at
http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/ will give you any answers you will
ever need.
TM = Guillmot = SCRAP with NO service = F*U*C*K the French garbage
that bought out our beloved TM.
Just MHO of course

| The general opinion is that that CH stuff works well, lasts a long time,
has excellent support and pleases the user, whether in civilian or
combat sims. There are many who will swear by something else, quite
often modded, and those mods are very expensive and - in some cases - no
longer available. Those other rigs, modded or not, may provide superior
performance or fit the user's unique preferences more closely. But CH
satisfies most people, most of the time.
So, for what's available today at a reasonable price, the general
opinion is that CH is just fine. Nothing is perfect and nothing is
trouble free. Nothing pleases everyone. But the majority find CH
perfectly satisfactory, and love the price and support. Support is
generous and instantly available, whether directly at CH or through the
supplemental site, CH Hangar.

This is dead-on. I've never had a problem with any of my CH stuff, and
I still have a CH Flightstick Pro from around '94 which I can still
hook up and expect perfect performance (and that's after using it for
years in Warbirds and other sims). My main stick is a USB
Fighterstick, and I would say its the best stick I've ever owned.
I've also had CH pedals and throttle with nary a problem in years of
use.
Sticks are personal prefernce, of course, but I don't think you'll
hear many complaints about the quality of CH products.

CH gear is top notch IMHO. I bought the Cougar and just couldn't get the
hang of it. My flying skills also took a dive with it. A CH HOTAS
(Fighterstick, Pro Throttle, Pro Pedals) setup is great for WWII birds as
well as modern jets. Once I save the money, I will be buying a second set
for the future. That's the problem with flight sim stuff. Since it is such a
small market, even companies that make the good stuff can disappear, or be
sold off to some crap other company that are just in it for a buck (i.e. TM)
and don't care for, or understand the product they're selling.

Well I am a little biased, but I think CH would be a safe purchase

| Ch is the best over all HOTAS available today. I have tried most of them.
The only negative thing I can say concerns personal preference: I wish that
the stick had a bit more "resistence". I have had the CH HOTAS (Fighter
Stick, Pro Rudder and Pro Pedals) for 2 years, and they work flawlessly.
Also, the system programming is complete and simple enough that most anyone
can program what they need or want.
This is one of the great products left on the Flight Simulation market.

| I had a CH stick in the past (Combat stick before I went TM). My only
complaint as well was the lact of resistance.
On a side note does the Pro Throttle have a mouse on it? I've read that
somewhere while researching the line.

| The Pro throttle has a "Miniture Joystick" which can be programmed as a
mouse.
