OT: Sean Penn "Journalist"?

| Well, we almost got some flighsim news but the "release" of the Pacific
Fighters 4.0 patch turned out to be a mistaken leak of an
almost-but-not-quite-finished release candidate.
Something I ran across that got me wondering. The link below goes to a site
with another link to the full article but since the full article requires
registration (and thus risks spam) I did not access it but the below excpert
pretty much covers what it was I got to wondering about. It is, in fact,
covered in full in the second sentence of the first paragraph, "One of those
journalists, actor Sean Penn--covering the events for the San Francisco
Chronicle..."
Regardless of which side of whatever political debate one happens to be on
we can all cite certain "news stories" published by the "other side" that
raised points those on "this side" did not like. One means of discounting
said stories has been to attack the credentials of the reporter, saying
"He/she is not a qualified journalist but only a hack and mouthpiece of the
right/left."
One can say that he/she is "not a qualified doctor" because he/she has no
medical degree or that he/she is "not a qualified plumber" because he/she
has no license. In the same way, in order to be valid the argument that
someone is "not a qualified journalist" requires that there exists some
attribute that the "qualified journalist" possesses that this "unqualified
political hack" does not.
Whatever may be the "qualifying attribute" that separates the "Journalists"
from the "Hacks" it seems that no less an authority than the "San Francisco
Chronicle" sees that attribute in Sean Penn and has thus bestowed on Penn
the title and style of "Journalist" and sent him out to cover the goings on
in Iran.
Anyone here care to hazard a guess as to what attribute Sean Penn possesses
that prompted the Chronicle's blessings?

Camera of Sean Penn, Journalist, Confiscated in Iran
By E&P Staff

NEW YORK Iran was rocked by bombings on Sunday, killing at least nine and
wounding more than 30, as dozens of journalists from around the world
gathered in advance of the presidential election this Friday. One of those
journalists, actor Sean Penn--covering the events for the San Francisco
Chronicle--was involved in a separate incident, and had his video camera
confiscated for a time.
Several hundred women at a sit-in outside the entrance to Tehran University
demanded rights revoked after the 1979 Islamic revolution. As chants and
taunts arose, police and plainclothesmen surrounded the demonstrators,
pushing away those trying to join the group. Officials also cut off cell
phone service in the area, and challenged reporters nearby.
In the process, they briefly seized the video camera of Penn, 44, acccording
to The Washington Post. He had arrived in Iran as a reporter for his friend
Phil Bronstein, editor of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Penn was spotted on Friday with a notebook in hand covering a prayer
service. He has also written about his visits to Iraq for the Chronicle.
One of the five bombs that exploded Sunday went off in the center of Tehran.
The violence was the most serious in Iran in more than a decade.

Wow, I would have never imagined that this flight-sim non-event tied
directly into Sean Penn. Really neat stuff there, Joe. Say, where
does Kevin Bacon fit in with IL-2?
Yot.

Wow, I would never have imagined that someone could have thought the subject
of the second paragraph a continuation of the subject in the first
paragraph. I believed all here at least intelligent enough to recognize the
obvious subject change between paragraphs. In your case I was obviously
mistaken.
