| I got IL-2 FB and liked it except that occasionally, my computer would lock
up when I loaded Disk 2. I tried tweaking a few things, but got tired of
cold booting my machine, and uninstalled the game. I deleted all the files
with UBI on them, then went to re-install the game and can't! Crap, now that
isn't fair. What the heck is wrong? My specs:
Windoz XP Home 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 Build 2600
Intel D915GEV PCI Express motherboard - 3.0 CPU x86 Family
ASUS Extreme - Nvidia GeForce 6600 - 256 meg - Driver version 6.14.10.7184
1 G Ram
SMBIOS Version 2.3
Sony DVD RW DW-22A master
MSI CD-RW CR52 slave
Realtek High Def Audio on motherboard
Thanks for any help,
Bumper7

You need to delete all the registry entries first.
Go to start, hit run, type regedit, than branch it out and go to this
Hotkey =Local Machine = Softeware = Ubi
Delete refferences to ubi in registry.
Also delete (if you installed them) the Ubi folder for
ubi.com.
then re install thats it.

valid.

| Phil, this is a bit of a longshot, but I notice both your optical
readers are burners. Could it be the copy protection kicking in??? I
think somewhere on the box it warns that it might not install properly
from a burner.
Everything else in your system looks fine to run the game. Maybe you
could grab a regular reader and try installing it from that.

| Doing some research, I came upon the forums at IL-2 and they gave me a tip
to get Microsoft's Windows Install Cleanup utility
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/EN-US which removed all traces of
IL-2, IL-2 FB and UBI-Soft from my computer. When I attempted
re-installation, I was aghast - it was loading....until... at 53% complete,
it asked me for Disk 2 and then locked up solid when I inserted Disk 2!
Which was the damn reason I uninstalled the game in the first place!!! It
was locking solid when I tried to play IL-2 FB.
Suddenly, I'm back to square one!
