I'm going to pick it up! This way I could have all of the goodies on one
disc.

Thanks

Whoah whoah WHOAH now - what is this? First time I've heard of it. As a
guy who's only recently gotten into Falcon 4.0, this could be the Next Great

My sentiments exactly. It will be nice to have a standard install tho and
(fingers crossed) a decent manual.

No manual. The box only weighs something like .33lbs, plus the price of
$29.00
equals no manual.
I have the spiral manual for F4 so I consider myself lucky.

Sooo.... somone have some details? What upgades/hacks are included
with this? Who was integral to pulling it all together? Will this do
away with Free Falcon and the patch group? Or will we still have the
wild west in regard to F4?

I'll pick it up if it provides a cohesive integrated package that
works right out of the box.

Actually details are *less than forthcoming* so if you need
reassurance forget it. My takeon it is it is a release LESS than what
is available alreadty so buy it at your own risk or wait for a verdict
of some sort. I have already read that you can't "Fly Any Plane" so
that in itself is a big flaw. What I WON'T do is delete any of my
current installs to load it. I AM going to buy it as is to see what is
going on though...

That's strange. Someone took a bunch of code and disappeared into a
back room and cooked this up? Or is it just Atari trying to get some
order to things and maybe a few bucks back?

Doesn't phase me. F* has always been about the F16 for me. From
Falcon, FalconAT on up. The Mig29 was cool in F3, but the F/A-18
never did work right IMO. If they decided to leave out the others and
just wrap everything neatly around the F-16 that's OK in my book.

AFA reviews go.... if one of them talks about how nicely the game
installs, how seamless everything is, and the ease of which you can
get going and operate the systems then my interest will be peaked. If
they talk about the proper procedure to start the APU, check the tire
pressures, and the correct cleaning solution to clean the canopy
before entering the cockpit then I will pass. I just no longer have
that many hours in the day to dedicate to entertainment software
titles that go over the top ape-shit for simulated reality.

Not that I begrudge others how enjoy that sort of stuff More power
to 'em.

Hey Icer,

Let's get together soon and fly the F-16, eh? I need the practice. Last
night's FreeBirds BFT was a freakin' disaster.

PM me at home if you want.

Well said. I'd much rather have a stable quality update to the F-16, which
is what the Falcon series is all about, than try to get too carried away
with adding multiple aircraft.

I also agree with the uber-realism details. I want a realistic, but playable
flight model and detailed avionics that can be easily controlled and
manipulated with a decent HOTAS setup. Not the damn 30 minute startup
procedure. It was fun once, but every time, I'd rather get in the air and
make a few craters (whether through my own lawn dart F-16 or bombs dropped
from it).

My biggest turn-off was that I never seemed to have a 100% functional
version. It was a combination of my ineptitude and glitches, but as I began
to understand better how to control the beast, I realized a lot of my
learning curve was understanding when Falcon was at fault and not me. So if
they can make sure the avionics are solid, I'm sold.

Agree 100%. I still think ED made a mistake making Flanker 2.5, then LOMAC
into a multi-plane sim. Make any sim good enough and it doesn't matter
what aircraft it models, people will buy it.

Of course there are always a few "I won't fly aircraft from X or Y" types,
but I say you either enjoy flight sims or you don't.

Can you really say the falcon 4 deal was about stability? I did not have
that much problem with it, but many did.

Exactly. I still think that FF3 is as close as you can get and the Allied
Force
is whatever... I have see nothing here to sway that line of thinking.
