Anyone running this game successfully? I've tired it on two computers, one
is a 233 MMX Windows 98 machine, and I get an application error two seconds
into a mission. Next time I start the game I get no sound or sound options
(using ~ key), even after a system re-boot. This also happens on my 1.7Ghz
under XP and ME.

Thanks for any advice as I'd really like to play this sim. BTW, I've already
asked on the SimHQ Typhoon board.

Which version of EF2000 is this? I'd suggest getting v2.0.

It's the version that runs under Windows in software mode and supports
windows joysticks. v2.0 is a dos version that supports glide or
software mode and needs a joystick that works in dos. If you have the
full Super EF2000 package it comes with both versions.

Correction. EF2000 came in the following flavors:

EF2000

EF2000 patches ("mid life upgrade")

TACTCOM

SUPER EF2000/EF 2000 V2.0 - sold together

The last version includes Voodoo Graphics support. Note: this is NOT
Glide. DiD wrote to the Voodoo hardware, as well as the Rendition
hardware. The Voodoo version (which MUST be run in Windows, even
though it is a DOS app) reliably only runs with a V1 or a V2 (the
latter with tweaks).

If you don't have an old Voodoo card, and still have an older (<450Mhz)
machine, you can run Super EF2000 in any version of Windows. It
doesn't have accelerated graphics, and really doesn't need them.

I have "Super EF2000 Windows 95" which is stand alone, no other games.
It has that title on the cover and spine of the jewel case.
I'm in Australia so this may have been a European release.
I just checked and it didn't require a patch.
