OT Chronicles of Riddick demo

Available in most of the usual demo download places I suspect. (I got it
from the bittorrent link at 3dgamers). Worth the 200Mb download just to
see the menu system IMO.
No, really. Maybe this appeals to the same bit of me that can sit & watch
a Flanker's undercarriage deploying & stowing away for hours (ok, minutes,
but you sim-heads know what I'm talking about, don't deny it).
Anyway, no idea what the game's like, haven't got that far yet (though it
was fairly well reviewed when it came out a while back). The menu really
is worth playing with all on it's own. Honest.

I'm not a huge shooter fan but COR is probably the best I've played (up
there with Farcry) except for a crappy stealth section in the middle its
well worth the price. A very atmospheric and polished game.

What crappy stealth section? I played through CoR in two days and
enjoyed every moment of it. I'm playing FarCry right now and I have to
say CoR is the better game but it was too short.

For me it was a tedious repition of trial and error.

Yea, but at least it made you think. FarCry has little thinking
required.

Not necessarily. You could take many alternate routes around. There were
very few spots that I actually had to expose my location, and few times I
had to reload.

| The Chronicles of Riddick was a superb game. It has Doom 3's graphics
without D3's performance hit, it's dark like D3 but in this case the
dark is your friend, not your enemy ("the dark is scared of me"), and
unlike Far Cry, it never got stupidly difficult. Best shooter of 2004,
better than HL2, IMO.

I just hit the stupidly difficult part in FarCry. I'm on level 19,
I've got 10 bullets and nothing else and there are trigents
everywhere. Think I'll call it a day and uninstall the game now.

Yea, I made it to the Copter so have my save there now. I'll finish
the game but FarCry is not as good as some people made it out to be.
It had it's moments but I enjoyed even Painkiller more.

The reason I enjoyed FC so much was probably because most of it suits the
way I like to play shooters. I usually lurk around the fringes and pick the
badguys off from a distance, plus the direct route isn't usually the best
one which rewards my style. The end is pretty daft but.

Well, it ain't no Ghost Recon. If you like that syle of play that's
one you should pick up if you haven't already. FC has a stealth meter
and yet the enemy would sight you from a mile away. It's a good game,
just not as good as I was expecting going by all the hype.

Never even heard of it, but I'll have a look. I hated OFP, so if its
anything like that I'll give it a miss. The more 'realistic' shooters claim
to be the more they annoy me because in my limited experiance as a weekend
warrior they aint even close. But for some strange reason I don't mind
games like Serious Sam, I just play them for what they are.

Ghost Recon is a somewhat realistic tactical shooter, one shot and
your dead. But it is more narrow in scope than OFP. I really enjoyed
it and it was great for online games. If you like Serious Sam type
games though you might not like it. You would really like Painkiller
though.
