Author Pacific Fighters question on new install to HD

Hi, I just got PF for Xmas. I already have IL2 FB installed with expansion
pack and latest patch. I'm wondering if there's anything special that I
should do for PF install and the patches? I think that I'll install PF to
the IL2 FB dir to get all the planes; I doubt that I'll do a stand alone
version. I'm on the PF web site now looking at patches but I'm a little
confused. Do I need to install any of the prior patch versions or just do
the latest?

Four years of college and I'm having a hard time figuring out how to patch a
game?!?! The PF web site has a d/l section that states, "Please take a
moment to read readme file, it is important that you will download the
correct version for your Pacific Fighters installation." But where's the
readme files? All I see are links for each patch.

I'm at www.3dgamers.com and they seem to indicate that I need to install the
3.01 patch and then the 3.02 patch. However, what's up with the 3.01
patch? There's two files with similar names but different file sizes?

pf_patch301m_new.exe 6mb
pf_patch301m.exe 62mb

Just a guess but after installing PF to my IL2 FB dir, then I should install
the following patches in this order

1. pf_patch301m_new.exe 6mb
2. pf_patch301m.exe 62mb
3. PF_patch302b_common.exe 18mb
4. pf_patch302bm.exe 20mb

I should also point out that I have IL2 FB installed to a different dir from
the default one. So when I go to install the PF patches, what dir should I
use? To the IL2 FB dir, or will there be a PF dir?

Patch 3.03 was released today. It appears to be official. Just install PF as
a merged install with your IL2 FB AEP, then download and install 3.03M ( 100
mb) for the merged install. It will patchy directly over your original PF
merged installation. IF you don't want to try 3.03 yet since there is no
"official" word on the website yet, go for the 3.01M patch instead. 3.02 was
beta.

I believe it will find it for you during the install. If not, just point to
your IL2FB directory.

PS: Be sure and read all of the readme, has some good information in there
on how to run, tweak, etc...

You will need to manually point to the proper directory for it to work
Otherwise it will create a *noremal ubi directory and unzip to that.
Found this out the hard way...
Just hit browse and pint to the right one.

Thanks guys. I got the 3.03m patch and installed it with no problems. I
did a quick mission flight and it worked. Oh yes! Look out Japanese
carriers!

All the files with m at tail end are for installs that include basic
il2, forgotten battles and aces expansion

without m is for stand alone pacific fighter install

PF can be installed one of two ways. As a stand alone or as a "merged"
addon for IL2. FB. To read a little more about different patches, check out
3dgamers link below. You'll find links for readme files on the right
column.

http://www.3dgamers.com/games/pacif...ters/downloads/

For your convenience we've introduced different version numbers for the
stand-alone installation and the joint FB+AEP+PF (merged) install.
3.01b - for stand alone PF
3.01bm - for FB+AEP+PF
And of course, the versions 3.01b and 3.01bm are not compatible with each
other
playing via network.

Notes on the Patch Installation

This 3.02b patch may be installed over the previous 3.01 version. The 3.02bm
version can only be installed over the merged PF 3.01m install.
