You must be wrongly informed! Flaming Cliffs will _NOT_ be a free
download.
ED intend to sell it in downloadable for to us in west but it won't be
free.

Can you post a link to the promo? Assuming it's on their web site, I
looked, didn't see it.

Those a**holes. They couldn't do this when PF first came out? I finally
get a decent system that could probably run LOMAC well, but I just haven't
bought it because I haven't had the cash since forking out the money for my
new PC.
This pisses me off.

LOL. I see it's offered on Amazon.com for $18.99. Now that I've got a hot
new PC I might pick it up. But then again, I might not - since I'm kind of
(finally) getting into F4 for the first time...

| Im not the guy to really compare it with F4. Ive been playing around with
F4 recently but I havent ran it enough to give a fair comparison. It seems
shareware/Linux'ish though its still great for a 7 year old sim. If I ever
did multi maybe that would change but at this point for me its all single.
Lomac seems to have hit a sweet spot for me (in the A10 anyway). Lomac is
by far the prettiest mud mover Ive ever run and I run it pretty much medium
graphics and a few fixes for explosions and other intense graphics to keep
my FR in the 30's during the most intense times.
Ive never flown an A10 before so Ill just say it feels as Id imagine, low n
slow almost WW2ish. Using the terrain for a mask is great, best yet by far
in any sim. The first A10 mission is beautiful. This game engine would be
awesome for LB3 .
The setup/learning curve is pretty stiff but no more so than any other
modern jet sim (F4, FS2004, wings of power, or even Firepower to a certain
extent flying the secret weapons of the Luftwaffe). I havent ran the
campaign yet but I did get the mission generator. My single complaint is
the view/lock system. I have a difficult time getting a view lock vs. radar
lock. Im sure more flight time Ill work it out better though.
If youve got the new rig to run this title in all its glory James then I
highly suggest you give it a shot. You may be surprised as I was having
never flown the flanker series and after hearing so much negativity about
this one.
Skip a couple Starbucks for a few days and Lomac is paid for and you'll be
healthier :-)

I'm pretty sure that if you turned up the player bubble in
Falcon 4, it would bring the fastest machines to their knees.
Thinking about it, I think I will reinstall, and give it a whirl
on my 3.7 Ghz box sometime soon......................
(still tweaking, and pushing for 4.0 Ghz right now, not finished with
the case mod's yet...)

| It takes a bunch of PC power to run effectively but its a great single
player sim if you have the ponies to run it. It includes multi but so far
in my testing its very weak. About the best $20 Ive spent on Flight Sims in
a long time.

Falcon 4 is a much more detailed sim than LOMAC and is hard to master.
However LOMAC looks nicer, but it's slightly easy to master.

Good job. Once you have tasted the feel of a real campaign, and the use
of most of the cockpit switches in F 4, you will not really wnat to even
play
LOMAC very much. Sure the eyecandy is very nice on a fast box, but
the immersion in F 4 to this day still cant be beat !!
There is nothing like starting your jet up on the ramp, taxi out, takeoff
and really
fly a mission from start to finish. It really is interesting, and done all
in real time
you can spend half a day planning and executing a mission.
You dont have to do it that way, but when ya do, the immersion factor
(again)
really impresses you. To me simmilar to Tornado. You really want to succeed.
To be fair, nothing has the feel of low level filght like LOMAC, but the
feel of being involved in something big, just isnt there...............

Problem for me is, CC is 10 miles away through rush hour traffic; BB is
right here in town. Makes the extra $4.00 a no-brainer. Maybe I'll saunter
on over tomorrow during lunch and pick 'er up...

F4 can run on a five year old machine with ease--but if you have a new, fast
one, the patches available--and to be available--make it look like a movie.
Whereas the next patch for LOMAC will probably be called LOMAC Gold and cost
$30.
