Saitek Lock-on Hang...

| Hi,
Having problems with a new P4 3.0 GHz system, Asus P4P800SE mobo, 9600XT.
Flying Lomac or IL2:FB with a Saitek Evo USB Joystick - whole computer
hangs after a few minutes of play. Reset button is the only thing that
helps. Without the joystick; no problems.
Any suggestions?
eh, I mean, HELP!

Yes, they seem to be related. I tried a new beta driver and control panel,
(from the Saitek site) but that didn't help. Switching off HT in the BIOS
did the trick, but that's not a good solution :-)

| I had the same mobo but a 9800 pro and had lockups within 2 minutes of
playing any game. I eventually removed the video card for an Nvidia one and
that solved the problem. It was a disappointing solution because the 9800
was a better card.

I had one crash problem like this, ans was going to try what
you said. Then a few days later (ie; today) I tried again. and
no problems and hangs at all one a long Bf 110 mission.

Same here, not in MS2004.
But I found something on some forum - it could have to do with
HyperThreading in newer P4 processors. My system is 2 weeks old - I guess
that qualifies as new :-) I went into the BIOS and switched off HT - so
far no lock ups, but it has only been 20 minutes...

No, the sound siappears completely.

Thanks for the info, that's really useful. I'll give it a go tomorrow.

I've got a 9600 Pro, but I didn't have any crash problems until I upgraded
the motherboard to an 875P chipset with the hyperthreading CPU. I'm loathe
to buy a new MB to try and cure the problem before discounting everything
else.
