Sega Saves Trizeal
Vertical shooter makes leap from Dreamcast to PS2.
by David Karlin, 09/09/2005
Trizeal probably is one game most of you haven't heard of. Heck, there's not
much reason to; this game was released on the Dreamcast earlier this year.
Yeah, exactly.
It all started when developer Triangle Station placed a panicked S.O.S. on
its website, announcing they could only afford to release their vertical
shooter Trizeal on Dreamcast. Not only that, but unless Trizeal sold a
certain amount of copies, the company would go out of business. Talk about
pressure.
Shockingly, in April, the game actually was released on Dreamcast. Fans
supported the movement and actually went out to purchase this new release
for Sega's long gone machine.
Responding to the sales and fan cheering, Triangle Station has now announced
a PlayStation 2 port coming in the winter - all thanks to Sega picking up
the tab. It's not currently known about what (if any) added exclusives will
appear in the port, but we're guessing there'll be a few.
The game will be playable at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show. We'll try and
swing by to check it out.
