Unreleased Games List?
|
|

| Hi All,
Say, has anyone developed a Dreamcast "unreleased games" list of some
sort that they might like to share? If not, is anyone interested in
compiling one? There have to be a lot of "90% completed" titles out
there, and we might as well start hunting them down now.
Thoughts?

That sounds like a pretty cool idea.
I'm crossposting this to rec.games.video.sega for input from the
regulars there.
Off the top of my head I can think of a few:
Agartha (canned)
Castlevania Ressurection (canned)
Geist Force (canned)
Gunvalkyrie (Eventually released on Xbox)
Half-Life (Final beta eventually leaked)
Panzer Dragoon Next (eventually the project turned into Orta on Xbox)
Propeller Arena (Final beta eventually leaked)
Toe Jam & Earl 3 (Eventually released on Xbox)
After a bit of google, here's some more:
Alien Ressurection
Worlds Scariest Police Chases
And finally, here's a bit of speculation:
Scud Race (tech demo was made when DC was called Katana, full game was
never done, but was it planned?)
Sega Smash Pack vol. 2 (The first was called vol. 1 - perhaps they were
planning a sequel. This is just speculation, though.)

This was posted a while back in a forum, seemed pretty official, I
posted it and the source link on my website for good measure. There's
no mention of how complete any of them were though.

| If that list is accurate, it seems like Sega had a lot of titles coming down
the pipeline. There also seemed to be a good many "quality" titles on that
list.

The DC was just hitting its stride, finally getting out of the shadow
of low polycount and low texture resolution PC/PS1/N64 ports when
pirates(and thieves), the media, PS2 hype, and Sega's empty pocket book
killed it. I was very much looking forward to 3rd party titles that
took advantage of the hardware as Sega originals like Shenmue, F355 and
Sonic Adventure 2 did, not to mention Test Drive Le Mans, and Sword of
the Berzerk. Actually, that expectation combined with press and popular
sentiment that Sega was better off being 3rd party all along caused me
to create my site. As is usual, the truth and what people think are
contradictory. It was a good run as it was, but I'd love to have 2-3x
the games to sort through rather than 80 or so. Also, if it had managed
to hold on, we'd have likely seen its predecessor last fall (five years
from the DC launch), and would already be in the next-generation.
