Blu-ray sales continues to expand its lead on hd-dvd on almost a
weekly basis. The fact that Blu-ray dated releases outnumber Hd-dvd by
a wide margin in the future, and that europe will soon join in the
Blu-ray fray probably means big trouble for hd-dvd.

Plus, i started noticing unsold hd-dvd titles are starting to pile up
in best buy (ie, each title has multiple copies on the shelves),
whereas manyBD titles have only 1 or 2 copies left on the shelves (e.g.
i got the one and only Ice Age 2 copy at a northern Nj best buy)....

DVDEmpire Blu-ray vs hd-dvd sales:

For the week ending Wed Jan 3rd
HD DVD 44.50%
Blu-ray 55.50%

For the week ending Wed Jan 10th
HD DVD 42.16%
Blu-ray 57.84%

For the week ending Wed Jan 17th
HD DVD 42.30%
Blu-ray 57.70%

For the week ending Wed Jan 24th
HD DVD 39.01%
Blu-ray 60.99%

Current:
HD DVD Blu-ray
36.35% 63.65%

Blu-Ray is spiking right now because of the PS3 release. If PS3 demand doesn't
stay high than Blu-Ray sales numbers will come down.

Perhaps the most moronic reply i've encountered so far.

1. bestbuy != online DVDempire

2. the sales of players are way below sales of dvd discs to make
almost no dent on dvd sales

3. i'm almost sure there are similar promos with hd-dvd giveaways -
because, when you come to think about it, it looks like going forward
in future, FREE giveaways are the only way you'll be able to GIVE AWAY
this dying Hd-dvd format.

Here's a site that tracks Amazon.com Blu-ray and DVD sales. It's
almost all based on sales rank. You can see clear trends towards Blu-
ray.

Good God man, give it a break. Nobody really cares.

Besides, why aren't you spending all this free time playing your 'wonderful'
PS3? Oh yeah..I forgot..it's a useless pile of shit. Sorry.

Sounds like the only way Sony is going to unload the PS3 units is by giving
them away.
