:O) I like that. I would say, to be really honest, that all consoles
have something the others don't, so in some folks eyes more eye candy
or bigger hard drives etc make the new machines better. I am trying to
justify this when recalling all the bragging of the original xbox's
capabilities and comparing like for like in the two versions of the
GTA games. I just played a bit of vice City yesterday on the xbox
during which motion was almost at a standstill due to a bunch of
police vehicles being after me and a helicopter being around too. now
this happened to some degree on the ps2 but I am not sure i recall it
ever hitting it so hard as it did during this period. I could only get
the speed back by saving the game and reloading. In San Andreas I find
the xbox version slows to a crawl during the sequences when CJ is in a
burning building, like the xbox just tries to cram too much into these
scenes and can't handle it.

This is what puts me off the next gen stuff, the fact that they seem
obsessed with showing off, rather than creating a good game which can
play within the boundaries of the machines. That's all i ask for.

XB360. Thanks to 3rd party development, PS2 got some great games. But
it still had significant weaknesses, low video ram, weak online,
mediocre HDTV and surround support, etc. Thanks to 3rd parties, it was
very good for its times, but its time to move on, turn the page,
insert your own cliche here ;-)

Well continue to live in the past, and enjoy your PS2 then. Did you
say the same thing when PS2 was launched? PS2 is past its prime, so
its safe to say its games stay "withing the boundaries" of PS2. I want
games that push the envelop further, games such as Oblivion, Gears of
War, Rainbow 6 Vegas, etc. I have a 57in HDTV and 500 watt 5.1
surround sound system. Consoles have to adjust and adapt over time
like all technology.
