After getting DSL , I immediately hooked up my PS2 To play online
which I was unable to do till now.
I was ready to sign up and pay a monthly fee, but to my amazement
found out 99% of the games are free except for a few RPG Games.
Although XBOX Live has dedicated servers unlike PS2 Which let each game
hook up to places like gamespy, what dissadvanges are there over xbox?
Why would people pay per month when there is a free way to play
online.? Is xbox live more stable or quicker? just curious...-Sam

No. But XBL does have more experience at this point for online-console
gaming, so they'll be more on top of things for the time being. And
they do host quite a bit of bandwith of material that you probably
won't find on Sony's servers. Sony will most likely leave it up to
individual developers, or media conglomerates to provide you with the
content and services you desire.

But is it more stable or quicker? Nope. XBL has more then it's fair
share of problems, many of which PS3 games will probably suffer. These
are the first real steps to online-console gaming, so there's bound to
be plenty of kinks to work out. The real difference will be how
Microsoft controls and manages everything themselves on XBL, whereas
Sony will leave it up to the provider of the content. This might sound
problematic, but it's what the PC world has been doing for years.

So other then the content they provide and a kinda slick interface, XBL
won't be that much more special then PS3's service. Unless you really
like XBL Arcade. Though I'm sure Sony will develop something similar,
as will the Wii.
