| Is it still possible to preorder PS3 in the U.S., os has the shortage
screwed everything up? If it is possible to preorder, wouldn't it be
financially sound to buy as many as possible and eBay them?

| You can actually get one free. This site is giving them away. All you
have to do is sign up and complete an offer. The easiest ones are
stamps.com, credit cards, true.com, efax. And if you cancel before the
free trial is up you get charged NOTHING. I'll include another site
that is giving away the Nintendo WII!

EBGames/GameStop have sort of announced their pre-order program, however
it's sort of weird. You have to obtain $50 in store credit by trading in
old games. They aren't accepting cash/check/money order/credit cards -
only game trade-ins. It doesn't make much sense to me because you'll
generally get, what, $5-7 per title for games you probably bought for
$30-50 each in the first place? Yeah, that's a good exchange rate.
Unless you have big dreams of trying to sell your PS3 on eBay for big
bucks, I wouldn't bother with the pre-order. Just save your money and
wait until Feb-March of next year, when I suspect the shortage will be
over and we'll start seeing PS3s on the shelves.
Ignore the scammer. The shortage for PS3s is going to be so bad, that
even if you DO manage to complete that site's list of requirements, and
they actually decide to honor their agreement (note: they're under no such
requirement!) it'll probably be a good year before they start getting
their hands on any PS3s... I wonder if those "free Xbox 360" sites have
even started shipping 360s yet.

I have little interest in the PS3 yet (that will eventually change).
It would be just for the short-term investment.
