| It looks like a pre recored show. I guess I will till tomorrow for the
real one. Iwata did point out some good points about the whole gaming
industry. It amazing how detail Nintendo goes into their press
conference.

Why not? The other makers have you fooled into thinking it's all about

It's not all about graphics, but it's not just about a controller
either. Nintendo's thinking that it's about a controller is about as sane as
Crazy Ken thinking people are going to buy millions of PS3's just because
it's a PS3 and not because it's got games people want. This is a fact
Nintendo will find out this generation if they don't actually get some 3rd
party exclusive games that aren't party, kiddie games, or RPG's that don't
sell anywhere outside Japan. Hardware does not generate sales very long.
Nintendo's mistake is thinking people believe it is about graphics, it's
not. It's about the fact the other 2 consoles in the previous generation had
exclusive games the majority of gamers (adults in the US, Canada or EU)
wanted to play, and thus developed brand loyalty, and Nintendo didn't
because they still think this is 1992 and we're all teenagers or younger and
want Mario in 350 different games as well as games like Animal Crossing or
whatever the hell that game is called. If it was just all about graphics and
processing power the GC would have beaten the PS2 because it was,
technically, more powerful.
Without exclusive games in the shooter/fighting genre that is most
popular like Halo, GTA or MGS to drive the system to adults in the US,
Canada and EU and develop brand loyalty, so they'll be willing accept the
fact that their game doesn't look as spectacular as the 360 or PS3 but they
have a new type of controller instead, Nintendo's doomed to third place
again. The only thing that MIGHT save them is the downloadable games, but I
don't think it'll be enough to get past Sony once they stop shooting
themselves in the foot...which they've got to do eventually.

They did not fool us, we want that and like that. Nintendo is trying to
fool the 'casual gamer' into buying an OC'd GC.

He has the right to, it is the control system that makes the DS
popular.

Graphics don't mean shit once you are into the game, take PW on the DS for
example, graphics are shite, but the story-line and thought-provoking gameplay
just blows that issue away - where does your argument stand then?

You've got a totally XXXXed translator then, since Nintendo buy their GPUs
from ATi, but designed the Wii around a lower price point than anyone else,
anyone using ATi can compete with each other given the same budget FFS, or
do ATi scam Nintendo off or something ?
You idiots were posting the same old shit about the DS, which now outsells
the PSP by 4/1

Huh?? Just because the GPU is from ATi does not mean that machine is as
powerful as the PS3 or 360. Even Nintendo, (along with game developers from
places like Gear Box) has stated the Wii will not be as powerful as the PS3
or 360. Check out this month's EGM where a developer from Gear Box states
that the graphics from the Wii do not come close to the PS3, it just is
going to take a long time to fully realize the power of the PS3 because it's
more difficult to program for. But that's not surprising because it took a
while for developers to fully harness the PS2. If the Wii really comes close
to the 360 in graphics I'll be extremely surprised. None of the screenshots
I've seen makes me believe it can.
Secondly, the handheld market is NOT the same as the console market!
That is precisely Sony's problem with the PSP and will likely be Microsoft's
problem as well with their rumored handheld. Adults do not play handhelds
on their way to work or sitting around waiting for something, but kids will
play a handheld while on the bus going to school or sitting around waiting
for something. Having games that appeal more to kids will sell in the
handheld market because it's totally different than the console demographic.

What teenager(mid to late teens) to adult wants a DS? When you people lose
the Wii argument, you ALWAYS go back to the only Nintendo money maker - the
DS. People who want a 360 or PS3 don't want a DS.

I'm an adult and I bought a DS Lite because I want to play Final
Fantasy III, but you're right, the bulk of the games on the system are
utter crap. I don't even think I've turned in on in about a month.
My DS games:
Phoenix Wright - Interesting premise, completely boring gameplay.
(Press A or tap the screen! Ok! Do it again! And again!)
Trauma Center: Under the Knife - Great game, very under-rated. Check
out this madman using two stylii to finish the harder levels:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dcyw_OSLor4
Advance Wars: Dual Strike - Best game I've played on the DS so far, not
quite as good as the original 2 on the GBA (graphics are smaller and
not as detailed.)
Bomberman - Hey, it's Bomberman, other than the wireless play and
tapping the screen to activate power-ups (which is a completely
arbitrary change that feels forced) it's the same Bomberman as always.
Trace Memory - Survival horror without the "survival" or "horror" bits.
OK game, really, really short. Puzzles not really challenging except
for two which require using the DS in unique ways... like the old
"Press the Reset Button" in the old X-Men game on the Genesis.
Lunar: Dragon Song - Worst RPG I have EVER played. No joke. The
characters move painfully slow and if you use the run button it drains
your HP. It's a travesty to call this a Lunar game.

No, but the controller opens new possibilities and can reach new

I have a DS, am an adult, and will buy a 360 eventually.
I see a lot of DS's on the train to/from work - all in the hands of adults.
Your statement is obviously false - or at least not as true as you would
hope.

Somehow I doubt very much that the people in and around silicon valley
think of themselves as "hicks", but don't let piddly things like "facts"
stand in your lame attempts at trolling.

Handhelds are a completely different catagory. What works on a handheld is
not guaranteed to work on a home console. Can anybody really see playing a
40 hour RPG with the Wii controller?

Trolling: Usually a term bought up when Usenet nerds lose an argument and
don't like what you have to say. It is shard for nerds to handle a mental
loss. After all, it is all that they have.

I dunno. The "nunchuck" add-on looks very similar to the "One handed
controller" that was released in Japan for the PS1 many years ago. This
was marketed officially as a RPG controller, which just included an analog
stick start, select, and the 4 face buttons - pretty much just what you
needed to play (most) RPGs with just one hand.

You're the one who resorted to name calling - a common troll tactic when
faced with things they can't argue back against, like facts, reality, and
words with more than 4 syllables.

Hhahahaha. Why, thank you. I haven't been called that since high school.
What do you honestly expect to accomplish with that? Really now.
Besides, this is the 21st century, the proper term is now "geek", not
"nerd" - not that I ever considered either word to be an insult.
