When exactly does this chip become available?

What odds that if Sony make November at all it's only with the
stripped down PS3 rather than the "premium"?

Seriously, has anyone seen an online betting site giving odds on the
PS3 slipping to March altogether?

Even if Sony can only manage to build one PS3, if they ship it and sell it,
they "launched" in 2006. Which is exactly what they're going to do. Better
to have people fighting like dogs over the two PS3s at each Wal-mart store
and spin it as the "Cabbage Patch Kid of 2006" than to delay again.

Exactly.

Anyways, I didn't think the PS3 really needed the 1.3 chip anyways as none
of its games will support 1080p. As for movies, I think even a non-HDMI
1.3 PS3 will hold people over until stand-alone players debut at prices
that will make the rest of the market care about either HD movie format.

Some of the current games in development already support 1080p60. Most
don't, but its still early days. Sweeping statements like "..as none of its
games will support 1080p." are just ignorant bollocks.
