RSX apparently runs at 500 MHz instead of the announced 550 MHz

a 50 Mhz drop in core clockspeed doesn't matter though.

why?

because RSX has already been downgraded in other ways.

even if RSX was running at 550 MHz, it's still a stripped down NV47 /
G70 / G71.

what matters is not MHz/clockspeed, but how many working graphics
processing elements inside a GPU; vertex shader units, pixel shader
units, texture units, pixel-pipelines, etc.

I am betting in all of those areas, RSX has less than the GeForce 7800
GTX released over a year ago.
